With such a huge store you'd really expect more. Seemed a bit pricey as well.
We were on the way from Chicago to Milwaukee definitely the most disappointing stop of the dozen or so places we stopped at between the 2 cities.

Liquor Barn is my go to lunch time beer store, as it's only a 5 min drive from my office. They get in a nice selection of beers from Pipeworks, Surly, Three Floyds, though sometimes harder to come by beer might be in extremely limited quantities. Price are generally comparable to Binnys but sometimes you might see something for a dollar more. The owner is a real nice guy, I've chatted with him before. He got in only 2 bottles of BA Bigfoot a couple years ago and raffled one of them off ( raffled it, meaning free - not raffled the opportunity to buy it) and I won, was pretty cool. They will get Zombie Dust in sometimes and sell them for singles at $2.50 a pop.

At first I liked this place because it was clean and they seemed to have a pretty good selection of beers including pipeworks and some others. I started shopping there regularly, but then one day I went in looking for stuff and was surprised to find a case of Sucaba there with 4/6 bottles left in it. I grabbed one and went to checkout, but the cashier said they weren't for sale because they were on hold for one of the employees (Armando). When I asked before, they said they only got one case in. Excuse me? I didn't feel like arguing, so I just said thanks anyways, and left. Now I know why I never see any of the limited release stuff at this place.

When this happened, I posted my experience on a local thread for some discussion, and a few people mentioned I should post this here. Whats funny is someone created a BA account yesterday and posted on the thread how my claims were untrue and praised Liquor barn for its greatness. I guess I just wish if the store felt the need to post on this site to try to save face, they would at least contact me about my negative experience at their store, instead of refuting my claims and basically calling me a liar. That's just poor form.

Gotta agree with crosovert below...

The new liquor barn to me was amazing. Huge selection of imported beers as was expected from my prior visit to the original barn...except displayed differently. If you do want a case of something just ask one of the employees.

HUGE domestic craft selection...had to be at least 50 feet of craft.

As always I have been very happily greeted with the staff, without them breathing down my neck. Most of the managers did have a good idea of rare releases and even offered to put a bottle or two on the side of KBS for me when I came in. A personal touch is always nice like I received.

Definetly will be coming back here.

This is similar in selection to the original liquor barn, but in a much cleaner, more streamlined fashion. It seems like the stuff isn't as picked over here as much, maybe because it is newer. A ton of eastern European stuff as expected.

The beer manager is a helpful guy who knew quite a bit about the distribution of certain beers and he was definitely on top of it.

The prices seemed maybe a tad higher than the other Liquor Barn but they are extremely reasonable in my opinion for the Chicago area in general.

The experience was overall pretty good, I think I like the other one better just for the charm but this is a solid store that is an alternative to Binny's.

And for seekers of Kvass the market right next to it has 4-5 varieties.
