Bastard Kat IPA is an American IPA, brewed in the style of West Coast IPAs. The light golden ale is topped with a thick white head. Generous doses of hops throughout the brewing process, including the hop back and dry hopping, give Bastard Kat a crisp, citrusy, hop aroma. Hop bitterness and flavor are both pronounced, making Bastard Kat a natural for hop-heads. The finish is dry and crisp, leaving you ready for another sip.

Best By date of 8/24. Pour is a golden amber, nice looking, clear and with a modest head. Nose is light floral aromas with a hint of grassiness. Carbonation is light, a little below where we like it. Taste is WCIPA right down the line - strong hop favors, medium bitterness and a long finish. Malt is definitely playing a minor role. In a region with many, many WCIPA producers, it's tough to stand out. We put Kulshan a bit above average.

Pours a light pale like bronze color, cohesive perfectly white head. Very nice lacing as it’s drank down.
Nice pine and sap aromas with a little bit of malt smell present as well. Possibly some grapefruit citrus too.
Taste is nice and hoppy, as with the nose the most pronounced flavors for me is the pine. The malt lends a nice touch of depth to it, like an ever slight toasted grainy bread.
Medium body, resin mouth coating hop feel, dry clean finish; nice and bitter.
This is a very enjoyable ipa. If you like classic IPAs definitely give this one a try it will not disappoint.

terrible. one of the worst beers ive ever tasted. i chugged the whole six pack in an hour because i wanted to get rid of it but im not gonna throw out beer. i was drinking bud light and it was better.
i drank it from the can so i didn't see colour. it smelled very piney. but also kind of citrusy. it was almost nice.
maybe tone it down a little so its not so in your face and it might be okay.

can into glass
Medium thick white head with some staying power. Not quite crystal clear gold with an orange tint in the appearance. Aroma is like a non-sweet and subtle orange marmalade. The India pale ale hop bite is not the usual grapefruit peel dominated flavor but does have a citrus peel profile, maybe lemon peel.

Six pack of cans picked up at Haggens in Woodinville, Washington.
BEST BY 01/13/20. Poured in to a pint glass.
Look- Clear brilliant gold color, largish off-white head that slowly recedes, moderate lacing. Heavy carbonation streams as it sits.
Smell- Resinous pine, pithy citrus (orange, grapefruit and lemon), bready malts, a bit of mango and pineapple... a little melon?. Some light herbal/grassy and floral notes.
Taste- Much like the nose, citrus rind and pine primarily with some light tropical fruit, the sweet malts come through nicely too.
Feel- Medium/light bodied, crisp and dry with a lingering light bitter finish, well balanced. Fairly aggressive carbonation on the tongue.
O- A prototypical PNW style IPA, nothing fancy but definitely works. Bellingham did good here.

Single can from Trader Joe’s in Bellingham (2 blocks from the brewery).
Pours a very nice clear golden with 1 1/2 fingers white head.
Aroma very much pine forward with notes of grapefruit - resinous with some caramel sweetness.
Taste follows aroma but more resinous, pine dominates the citrus and bitterness builds - there is some balancing sweetness.
Medium full mouthfeel with building and lingering sticky bitterness - very nice west coast old school IPA.

Clear yellow brew with plenty of foam in the tall IPA glass. Nose of peach and pitch. Hops are listed in this 2019 version as Apollo, Cascade, Centennial, and Chinook. It's plenty hoppy and plenty bitter. Plenty of everything. But light in the mouth, though with a malty body.
Sharp and fruity with a clean wind through the pines. Robust and malty with just a touch of sweetness. Some apricot flavor is the nicest feature. From the 12 oz can purchased at Elizabeth Station, which actually says "Bastard Kat" on the label.

12 oz can poured into a snifter. A slightly hazy golden-amber color with a medium sized white head. The foam settled into a robust cap that persisted. Oranges and grapefruit mixed with earthy notes and bready malt. The taste reminds me of how much I love Cascade and Centennial hops. Bitter citrus pith, some pine, and a candied orange sensation on the finish. Bready malt with a little more character, likely due to the Munich. Medium bodied and crisp. An outstanding old-school American IPA.
