Red Cap is a beer that gets along with just about everyone. Easy to drink yet full of flavor, it showcases Munich Malt, Crystal Malt and Roasted Barley living in harmony with Willamette and Golding hops. Medium in body and creamy on the pallet, it lingers pleasantly and has a malty sweet finish.

Poured from a tapped commercial keg into a standard pint glass.

Look: Dark ruby red. High clarity. Thin light kakhi head with smaller bubbles, quickly dissipates. Lacing is low to none - halfway through, my glass looked nearly clean above the beer.

Aroma: Caramel, toffee and cherry up front, not dissimilar to cherry cola. Also some roasty and biscuity aromas as well as floral (rose flower) and earthy/spicy qualities I would guess coming through from the hops.

Taste: A nice bitterness right away that quickly welcomes you to a amalgam of caramel, copper, cherry, dry biscuit, and earthy flavors with subtle spiciness and the slightest chocolatey taste.

Feel: body is moderately light, lending to more noticeable carbonation and a very crisp and dry finish.

Overall: A wonderful red ale that leans towards the mysterious and difficult-to-define American Red style as opposed to the Irish Red. Crisp. Refreshing. Sessionable. Complex but refined. This might be my favorite red ale.

12oz can served in a tulip. No date on the can that I can see.

Pours a dark cola color without much head, and what does bubble up disappears quickly, leaving a tiny meniscus. Smell is toasted grains, a little yeast, lots of nuts.

Taste is nutty/toasty/toffee, moderately sweet. Maybe even a hint of light roast coffee.

Mouthfeel is medium to light. Overall, it's pretty good.

S. Light porter smell. And under-lining tart cherry with light citrus tones.

T. Hops bounces off the palette nicely with hints of dark wood as an after taste,

F. Very light and smooth.

Pours a beautiful crystal clear brown at first glance, hold this up to light and it is a crystal clear red, gorgeous color. The photo is not that indicative of the color at all, but it was the best I could do at the moment. I noticed the same cohesive cap of head on this beer that I noticed on the other Kulshan beer I had, this one has a slight brown tint to it but its mostly white.

Aroma is mostly that of mildly toasted, just verging on burnt, rustic like bread. Some sweet toffee/caramel notes as it warms up, some earthy hops as well.

Taste is the same burnt like bread, followed by some burnt sugar/toffee like flavors, also get some grain from it as well. There is also a moderate and noticeable general hoppiness to this beer, like the aroma little earthy.

Light to medium body, very creamy and soft carbonation, leaves a nice feeling on the palette and finishes with a nice moderate bitterness. Very easy drinking full flavor enjoyable beer.

Creamy, beige medium head. Ahh, the clear auburn/chestnut appearance is something to behold. Spiced malt aroma with a touch of light toast. Moderate caramelized woody flavor with an easy woody bite and finish.

L: Shiny deep crimson with a tan brown head. Transparent but not crystal clear with visible carbonation.

S: Apple, cherry malt. Breadier than fruitier. Hints of wheat

T: Malty with moderate sweetness. Dark baked bread with sugar crust.

F: Velvet smooth and low carbonation.

Super sessionable and smooth, but underwhelming from a flavor perspective. More was promised in the aroma than taste.

This is great. I'm drunk but I can't taste any negative flavors. Easy, interesting grain flavors. Somewhat thick?? A viscous like flavor. Slight white maybe

Poured into a Seattle Beer Week pint glass. Pours a medium to dark reddish amber with ruby notes and a half finger light khaki head with good retention; looks like a classic red ale. Aroma of caramel malt, overripe fruit, hint of cherries; again a classic red ale profile. Flavor is mild caramel malt with a hint of biscuit, cherry, light stone fruit, finishes slightly drier with a mild grassy hop bitterness and lingering cherry and fruit juice. Medium bodied with good carbonation. A straightforward red ale, covering all the flavors I want in this style. Well balanced and pleasant. One of the better red ales I've tried.
