A - tart cherry, light wood, nothing too funky, but still good
S - clear, deep red, white ring, already sticking to edges of my glass
T - it is not alco-pop, but it is definitely backsweetened (I had a hunch when I removed the wrapper and saw no sediment in the bottle), there is a good bit of tartness, but still has that sugary-sweet soda thing going on, which takes away from the base beer, as well as the cherry character, and again, there is not much funk
M - not hugely carbonated, but still soda like, sticky sweet, feels like I'm gonna need to give my teeth a good scrubbing afterwards
D - this isn't quite a drainpour, but it is nothing to get excited about
I picked up a few sours last time I was through Calgary, and I was craving one tonight, so this guy got the call. It is definitely a let down, though there manages to be some redeeming qualities. In terms of a sour brown/red ale with cherries, the Verhaege Kriekenbier is superior in every way. This is just too damn sweet.
