This beer has a nice red tint with little to no head. The smell is fruity and sweet with hints of cough syrup due to the combination of all the fruits: cherry, blueberry, elderberry, strawberry and raspberry. The taste is very sweet and might be better paired as an after dinner drink or dessert.

Pours a clear, dark, garnet color with a short-lived, pink head that dissipates to a faint film. No lacing left behind in this Belgian.
Smell is, of course, raspberries, sweet, slightly artificial or enhanced, with a hint of malt behind. Decent balance for the style.
Taste is raspberry, slight sourness with a sweeter finish, malt and a mere hint of yeast. Well balanced, exactly what I expected and wanted.
Somewhat astringent, a good thing in a dessert beer, imo, without getting to the point of pucker. Light-medium body, tingly effervescence on the tip of the tongue but light elsewhere. A light warming aspect develops after a few swallows/sips, way in the back of the throat, just to remind you there's alcohol here. I like it.

Liefmans Fruitesse, a belgian ale aged on cherries, flavored with cherry, raspberry, bilberry, elderberry, strawberry, sugar, and sweetener. 4.2% ABV. A good solid pop!

A: Almost a finger of light pink head. Orangish-red with, what looks to be, fruit bits floating throughout. Some lacing and some slight tearing, but no real legs forming.

S: Instantly, there is a tart berry smell coming from the bottle. A good amount of berry aroma. Tarter and lighter than raspberry

T/MF: Good, drier mixed berry flavor, more leaning on the strawberry, bilberry, and cherry. Nice tartness. Nice, light sweetness.

Not bad at all. I expect it would go well with a rich and creamy dessert, like cheese cake.

Poured from a 750mL bottle, into a Petrus chalice.

750ml bottle with no freshness date poured into a tulip glass, and consumed on October 19, 2013. I believe this cost about $8 at the Brewery Ommegang.

A- Big, cotton candy pink colored head, highly carbonated transparent, dark ruby colored body, and the many carbonation bubbles are small and lively. The whole look is reminiscent of a ruby red champagne.

S- Sweet cherry and raspberry in the nose. Smells like the cherry cough drops I remember from childhood, and the Chambord I remember from adulthood.

T- Berries, cherries that start sweet and end with a soft, tart kick. Again reminiscent of Chambord and slightly medicinal. Tastes more like a champagne and punch drink than beer, but there is still something in the aftertaste the let's you know you are drinking something brewed with malted grains. It is subtle but there.

M- Mid bodied and a bit syrupy, but very crisp and refreshing. Lots of tingly carbonation finishes with a mild semi-sweet bite.

O- I drank this with my sister who doesn't like beer, but she liked this and said, “It's drinkable”. So, that should give you some idea of what you are getting yourself into. However, I do like beer and also enjoyed it as a change of pace brew. Something to wake up some of the lesser used parts of my palate. When I go back to Ommegang, I will pass on it in favor of other options, but it is far from a bad beverage and wholly appropriate in some situations. Namely the situations where you are trying to please someone who goes for sweet, fruity drinks over beer, or after you and your European girlfriend just rode your Vespa to a harborside bistro on the Mediterranean coast.
