Poured from the bottle into a tulip glass. Cork dates 2010?

An extremely dark brown red with hints of sort of.. black edges around. Head forms real tan brown and creamy, makes barley a finger and tops to about half size. Small puck settles nicely.

Nose is real wonderful. Cinnamon and cream, tart cherry, a sweet candy sugar with a hint of fig, a great mix of sweet and sour. I am getting a strong Belgian candy sugar action on this but nothing too crazy, almost hints at maple syrup.

Palate fills slightly wet, but hits with a light carbonation and noticeable fizz. Tart cherry hits throughout the palate. Malt action seems to give a bit of density particularly on the finish, and a great lingering cherry taste that follows the ending.

Overall, real solid, not sure why I haven't had this before, going to have to try the cherry infused one at some point. Refreshing, and light with a little bit of cream malt and density. Very nice.

Poured into a goblet. The appearance was dark amber/ brown. Formed a head which dissipated immediately. Smells almost of dates, a little bit of a acidic smell, just a tad of sweetness. A nice flavor overall, not overly acidic, a nice dual between malty sweetness and sourness. I would consider it kind of a acidic fruit kind of a flavor. The body isn't really thin, but not overly thick either. Overall, I like this beer, each time you put down the glass, you get some of the flavors lingering in your mouth and want to pick up the glass again, I def. would buy this again.

Poured into an imperial pint glass. Glass of cold water on the side to sip from periodically. This bottle is from 2010.

Appearance: As poured the beer is a dark brown with reddish highlights and a 1 1/2 “ light tan head that has a nice creamy consistency. While it recedes fairly soon there is a ring of foam for all of the beer. As the head recedes it leaves some lacing and throughout the beer sipping leaves some lacing.

Smell: The aroma reminds of lightly tart cherries with caramel/brown sugar in the background. There’s also a touch of plum or other dark fruit.

Taste: The flavors are relatively complex, with some tart cherries, and brown sugar or light caramel dominating. The balance between sweet and sour is maintained well and neither dominates the other. There is a hint of dark fruit here (plum?) along with some nice malt character which never conceals the gentle tartness. The alcohol is well concealed here.

Mouthfeel: The mouth feel is medium bodied with more than adequate prickly carbonation. The finish is medium length and begins with the caramel cherry tartness, turns a bit sweet as the brown sugar kicks in and then fades away to a nice crisp dryness.

Drinkability and Overall Impression: I’ve enjoyed this one. Each sip follows easily from the last and I’ll be quite happy to have another one of these in the future. My overall impression is of a complex, well made beer with a lot to recommend it both by itself and as a pairing with a beef roast or grill.

Brought this back from Rotterdam in my last trip.

The beer color is brown, it is clear, with some red color notes on the edge. The head is beige in color and mainly compose of big bubbles. The head disappear quite fast too. The aroma is typical for this type of beer. Slightly sour with some fruits notes. The aroma is not very aggressive. The taste present sours notes but very subtle. This one is not aggressive at all. The finale is malty with some cereal notes. This is quite enjoyable. To introduce people to sour beers, this one is a good choice. Well balanced. I liked it.

Poured from a 750ml bottle from 2010 to a Ommegang tulip glass.

A- pours a deep dark reddish brown, very cola like, with a two finger slightly off white creamy head.

S- caramel notes fill the nose, followed by sweet tart cherries. Sweet sugary grapes, cherries, and big amounts of brown sugar.

T- high carbonation brings an initial tingle to the tounge that prepares the mouth for the overly tart offerings. Tart cherries, green grapes, sugar all over this beer. Sweet and sour, bready malts, fill the backbone. Finishes dry and crisp like a fine wine.

M- medium in body, highly carbonated, sweet, sour, and dry.

O- great sour with a lot of character, every sip craves another. Truly exceptional beer.
