The Old Coffee House 'was one' as the name suggests !

Classic back Street boozer just off Regent Street, midway between Oxford Circus and Piccadilly Circus tube stations (5 mins walk from either).

One mid size room with lots of knick-knacks adorning the walls and shelves including a number of old etched brewery mirrors including 'Hanbury & Buxton' and 'MB Foster & Truman', and the general clutter seems like it really has been here for a hundred years or so, as opposed to being bulk bought and shipped in.

Service was fine, didn't have to wait long and the bar was pretty busy (7pm on a Weds night) largely with office workers and London locals. I doubt too many tourists make it here as slightly off the beaten track.

Didn't try the food, though was available

Onto the business end . . . BEER !

5 cask conditioned offerings from Brodies (of William IV Leyton fame) including an exclusive brew for the Coffee House, "West End Best"

All cask ales are priced at just £3 a pint, an absolute steal for anywhere in London, never mind Soho!

On my visit I had the Hoxton Sepcial IPA @ 6.6% ABV and the Saison @ 8% ABV, always £3 no matter how strong the beer is!

Only minor gripe and the reason I have marked quality at 3.5 is that both beers were a little on the cold side and the Saison gained life and charectar as it warmed a little!

In all a great stop off in a part of London otherwise very expensive and lacking in decent micro brewey offerings!
