On tap at Tired Hands

A- pours pitch black with a small light tan creamy head, short retention and no lace

S- fresh coffee with dark chocolate, oats with slightly smoky malt

T- big dark chocolate notes with fresh coffee flavor, smooth oats, smoky roasted malt, light habanero burning sensation on the finish

M- medium body and carbonation, smooth and creamy mouthfeel, chewy yet silky finish

O- this tasted very similar to FBS with habanero added. The coffee, oats and chocolate were balanced well and the habanero heat on the end was perfect, it was subtle but lasted long after consuming

thanks to tenderbranson69 for sharing this growler with me, enjoyed chilled from the 1 liter in a tulip.

The color is black with opaque clarity and a reddish brown head with fine bead, lace clings in spots. The smell has a nice cocoa mixed with roasted coffee scent with very mild caramel and woody accent with mild yeast that adds a slight fruity ester. The feel is great -lots of malt body with yeast creaminess and a low alcohol influence on the palate with light warming in the back of the throat from capsaicin.

The taste starts subtle but begins to have a pretty decent coffee flavor leading to a delicious dark chocolate flavor mixed with subtle spice and light caramel. The taste of the peppers plays a part, but is not stealing the show -it is supporting the malt and coffee and adds its own complimentary flavor in addition to the malt and coffee's roastiness but doesn't distract from the main stout emphasis. I like the way the malt smoothness is augmented by the spice from the pepper with a mild heat...not enough to jump out at you but certainly enough to know you are drinking a pepper beer by the end of the glass. Overall I was not sure what to expect but this is a solid stout and drinkable considering the layers of flavor that had to be interwoven -very unique and tasty!

750ml growler into a Cigar City snifter.

Pours pitch black with a cluster of bubbles for a head. Spotty and sparse lace with a thin, oily head. Average.

Nose is coffee, chocolate, and roasted malt with a hint of mellow sweet and spicy pepper in the back. Pretty subtle but nice.

Opens chocolate and coffee. Espresso, roasted malt, dark chocolate, cocoa and liquorice in the middle with a smooth, slightly spicy pepper coming in towards the back. Integrated perfectly. Spice amps up towards the end and finishes sweet and smooth with the same aftertaste. Real tasty!

Medium bodied with low carbonation. Silky smooth in the mouth and goes down smooth and spicy with a messy finish and a lingering aftertaste. Drinks bigger than it is... which is great for this style.

A very solid beer that's certainly the best of the style that I've had from Tired Hands. Smooth, complex and well integrated, I wish their other imperial stouts took after this.

The beer is a roasted coffee stout with lots of green jalapeno essence with a slight tinge of heat. There's a bitter chocolate and a medium plus amount of heat as the beer warms up. The chocolate is big on the flavor as the heat combination with it makes the beer tastes towards Prairie BOMB!
