Tired Hands first "level" Single Hop IPA. Brewed with oats. This level was hopped entirely with Nelson Sauvin. Poured from a growler (filled two days ago) into a brand new Tired Hands teku glass.

The appearance is a milky golden yellow, topped by a frothy white head which settles down to a small island of white bubbles.

First Level is a remarkable showcase of the New Zealand Nelson Sauvin hop. The aroma alone shows the diversity and range of aromas possible. A bouquet of white grape juice, lime, pineapple, and rosewater. It's beautiful and refreshing. Light honey malt sweetness in the background.

The flavor is a mild bitterness up front, with flavors of juicy citrus fruit and kiwi on the tip of the tongue. The beer crosses the palate with a soft citrus sweetness, followed by a very light bitterness that is well-balanced with the oats and malt. Notes of white grape juice in the aftertaste, and a flash of lime zest. It's a juicy mouthfeel, with smooth carbonation, and medium body.

This is a delicious single hop IPA, and one of my favorite Tired Hands beers to date. Perfect balance, and insanely delicious aroma, and excellent drinkability. Very much looking forward to the other beers in this series.

2L growler into an Alchemist stemless snifter. Shared with schen9303.

Pours a .5 finger foamy white head that dissipates quickly. Beer is a cloudy, pale yellow. Lacing is stringy and layered with average stick. Not much of a looker but not bad considering the serving style.

Nose is papaya, mango, starfruit and sweet citrus. Moderately aromatic but this one really makes my mouth water.

Opens citrus, cane sugar, starfruit and mango. More tropical fruit puree with sweet cane sugar and a citrus hop presence in the back. So juicy! Papaya and some kiwi in the end with a lingering, filmy sweet fruit finish and aftertaste. Awesome!

Light bodied with moderate carbonation. Aggressive and quenching in the mouth and goes down slightly dry but smooth. Messy finish with a lingering, sticky aftertaste. So amazingly drinkable.

This measures up to any IPA that Hill Farmstead has put out... which is saying a lot. An absolutely phenomenal beer that I hope TH will revisit some time in the future.

8 oz. pour on tap at the brewery poured into their flute-like glass, unknown brewing/release date, drank over 30 minutes

A: 2/3 - bright yellow coloration; low clarity (cannot read through) with intense hop haze; tight white bubbles pouring off the bottom of the glass; initial frothy white head settles into a 1/2 finger head that persists throughout the drinking

S: 11/12 - intense Nelson Sauvin hop character - white wine, pineapple; earthy, grassy; little malt character and alcohol detected in the nose

T: 19/20 - taste profile immediately follows the nose with a big vinous character - white grapes, earthy and grassy; in the middle of the mouth, the NS hop complexity continues with some mild pils malt and gentle alcohol; finishes dry

M: 5/5 - moderate-to-high carbonation; moderate hop oils that coat the tongue; some alcohol feel as well

O: 9/10 - intensely beautiful single hop IPA featuring one of my favorite hop varietals; this could be the best all-Nelson Sauvin IPAs and one of the best NS beers; out of the samples that I tried at the brewery, this was my favorite - highly recommended!

On tap at TH.

Cloudy, deep, pale yellow color, with a frothy white head; decent retention and lacing. Earthy aroma, ripe citrus and gym socks. I've had several Nelson Sauvin single-hopped beers now, but none that had quite the amount of "body odor" that this one had. Not saying that in a bad way, it just seemed to be a very predominant aroma and taste here. The taste was similar to the aroma, dank citrus, b.o., earthy and leafy, underripe pineapple. Medium body, crisp mouthfeel, drinkable enough, but it just took me a bit to get past that musty, socky sensation.

Appearance:

Hazy golden yellow. Bright white head. Soapy bubbles.

Aroma: lemon rind. Bright citrus sweet bread. Grassy earth

Taste: bright citrus. Lemon zest. Slight earthy spiciness. Very juicy.

Soft carb medium mouthfeel. Despite always being softly carbed in the growler by the time I get it their IPAs always seem to be great

Thanks to tenderbranson69 for sharing this growler, enjoyed chilled in a goblet.

the color is golden with hazed look and thin white head. The smell is juicy and tropical with earthy green hop presence and white juicy/ green grape scent. The feel is very juicy/tangy with light hop bitterness and oily resinous texture with medium carbonation and spiced finish.

The flavor is green and dank with hops a light floral taste is complimentary with some tropical fruit and citrus bitterness in the background with light leafy and spicy flavor as it finishes with hardly any malt very dry. Overall this is a great tasting Ipa, plenty of hops without much else except hop intensity -it was great to try this even with a week of age on it.
