This beer is retired; no longer brewed.

Summer Saison brewed with wheat. Spiced with chamomile and conditioned on copious amounts of blood orange puree. Fermented with our "Emptiness" Saison culture (think Brettanomyces and Lactobacillus).

Reviewed from notes. Shared by Dan - thanks.

A: Pours a hazy pale yellow with a thin 1/16-inch thick white head which leaves a few spots of lace.

N: Wheaty and yeasty with some brett funk and citrusy notes.

T: Yeasty up front with a grassy/herbal middle, slight funk, rounded out with a clean citrusy orange.

M: Semi-moderate body and light carbonation. Finishes dry, yeasty, slight funk, faintly sour citrus.

O: Easy drinking and refreshing. Enjoyed.

On tap at TH.

Straw-yellow color, cloudy, with a half inch of white foam on top; moderate lacing and retention. Bretty funk in the nose, ripened fruits, orange peel, peppery spice. In the taste, bready yeast, hay and grass, overripe melon, dried orange peel, toasted wheat, and a distinct peppery spice in the background that lasted into the finish. Light-medium body, easy drinkability.

Growler; thanks John. Poured into an unlabeled snifter today, 5/6/2014.

A- Hazy straw yellow body, a slight hint of orange. One finger white head with nice retention, little bits of lacing. Essentially, it looks like a summer beer and a very refreshing one at that.

S- A lot of the wheat character comes out here like in a good hefeweizen. A good touch of leathery, rotten citrus peel funk. Not really getting a lot of lacto here; or any acidity to speak of. Which is fine by me.

F- Wheat, bready pale malt, straight up orange juice with a little bit of pulp; with a rotten citrusy funk finish. This comes together quite well to be honest. The oranges and citrus come together quite well with the wheat.

M- Somewhat close to a medium bodied beer, but a bit thinner than expected. This is really drinkable; there are no off-flavours and the funk and citrus play together really well even on the backend. There is a orange peel type bitterness on the backend that goes a long way.

O- Really nice saison; the true citrus character really adds a lot to the drinkability of this beer. I definitely enjoyed this one a lot, but the smell and mouthfeel could be improved upon. However, this is a great summer saison to drink sitting in the sunshine, which is exactly what I did in drinking this.
