Gose brewed with raw wheat, sea salt, and golden beets. Conditioned atop holy basil from @happycatfarm. Tart and luscious.

On tap at the brewpub.
Ok I really have a thing against beets (re: I hate them), and I'm not a big fan of basil in beer, but what the hell, I was down for a 4oz. of this.
Completely still pour, essentially no carb whatsoever, even swirling failed to generate any bubbles. Clear and pale golden in color. Vegetal aroma, some non-offensive vinegar, mild sweetness. The taste was much sweeter than I expected, beet juice, light basil spice, sweet & sour sauce, rock candy, assertive saline finish. Surprisingly not disgusting, which I thought it would be. (Not a TH bash, I just hate beets, as I said before.) The mouthfeel suffered a little from the flatness of the beer, which gave more of a filmy, syrupy sensation. Interesting overall.

I was in Philly this past weekend and tried the Shoe Gose. It's a wonderful pale, clear beer made from golden beets and basil. The smell has a hint of basil (it took me a while to identify it). It's a very light basil flavor that comes through in the taste and it really was nice. It left a pleasant, herbal aftertaste. I think this is my favorite beer but unfortunately, it's only for a limited time. I brought a growler home and I just had some more and it's still great.
