American brown rye ale. Brewed with caramel malts, and rye. Well hopped with a blend of Citrusy/Piney American hops. Balanced with a smooth malt backbone and restrained bitterness. Fermented with our house ale yeast

First had: on tap at their brewpub
Poured a clearish medium brown color with a small off-white head that receded to a ringlet. Subdued aroma of caramel malts, toasted bread, indistinct hops. Taste was surprisingly hoppy and citrusy up front, a quality that's not usually so distinct in a brown ale. Not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing, but it didn't seem so bad to me, and as someone who doesn't care much for brown ales, it was a welcome change of pace. Otherwise, toasted bread, slightly nutty and a tolerable twinge of wet cardboard. Light-medium body and quite sessionable.

A light-medium murky brown body with a thick, frothy tan head that leaves a sticky mess of lacing. Aroma includes dank earthy hops, nutty toast and hints of cocoa. Flavor is much of the same with big dank hops balanced out by lots of earthy and nutty malts. The feel is medium bodied with medium carbonation, somewhat creamy. This one reminds me of one of TH's better black IPAs with the roastiness replaced by toastiness. A good take on a "brown IPA" or a hoppy brown.

Not my favorite. Looks like dirty water, the kind of mud that's stirred up when you walk barefoot through a lake. Nose is alright, hints of caramel and roasted beans. Taste begins with a pleasant caramel sweetness but is quickly replaced by a boozy presence that's totally out of place. Feel is just right and it is drinkable but not one I'll order again.
