Fourth (?) beer in the Trois Enfants series, a collaboration with McKenzie and Earth Bread Brewery. First was a dark saison at EBB, second was (?), third was Conifer at McKenzie.
Description: Biere de Garde spiced with bee balm, grains of paradise, and five varieties of sugar. Half of this batch is being aged in wine barrels with Lancaster county strawberries.
Pours a deep reddish brown color with a thin, wispy off white head. Nose startles you at first with how funky and tart it is. Brett, red wine, faint fruit, spicy yeast, and lightly tannic. Flavor has much less funk than the nose, instead has a spicier, grains of paradise and malt base with a sweeter fruit finish, strawberry and red wine (though not overly oaky or tannic). Medium thick body, well carbonated and a dry, slightly funky finish. Very interesting beer, I'd love to try this with more age.

Big thanks to yourefragile for sharing this growler. Served in Tired Hands stemware. Nice strawberry in the nose. Wine comes through in the flavor with some earth. Strawberry on the back end. Pretty easy to drink and quite nice; Biere de Garde is not always my favorite style, but this one hits the mark.

Growler thanks to Pnell316...you da man!
A - Pours a ruby reddish/brown color, off-white head, spotty lace, thin collar, some wisps on top.
S - Bretty funk right up front, fruity sweetness which I attribute to the strawberries, light tartness, toasted malty/wood notes. There's definitely a lot of things going on here...perhaps too much?
T - The brett & wood notes are more pronounced then the nose, with a funky berry kick on the back end. There's some saison in here, but beer is more of an experiment then anything. It tastes like there's more then 5.3% alcohol, but it's probably the brett influence that's making me think this. Finish is all wine barrels and funk with sweet berry notes.
M - Light to medium body, good carbonation, dry funky finish.
O - I think I want to like this beer more then I actually do, but it's still a unique offering. The brett/funk influence is pretty big with a fairly complex layer of berries and oak. It sounds good but when combined together, I just think it's a bit too much. One or two glasses is enough for me with this beer.

On tap at the brewery, beer served in a sort of flute. Beer is light in color sort of brownish and hazy with a tight white head of small bubbles, some lacing, moderate to low carbonation.
Aroma is yeasty, Brett brux primarily is what I detect with a mild strawberry seed sort of a aroma.
Beer has some woodiness to it, hard to tell if that is coming from the Brett b or something else in there. The strawberries take a back seat to the musky tannic funk this beer has but I am really enjoying it. A nice take on the Biere de Garde style. I'd have it again.

Slightly hazy, pinkish-red tinged bronze color; thin, white-capped head; delicate lacing and wonderfully soft carbonation. The aroma is equal parts wine barrel and Brett with a hint of earthy strawberries. Mouthfeel is soft, smooth, perfect. The taste mimics the nose, but is blanketed by a bready malt base. You can detect the nuances of all three breweries, but the overall beer is a wonderful example of a Bretted/wine barrel aged Biere de Garde.

Growler shared with friends thanks to Bearisheaven. Poured into pint glass. Growler filled less then a week ago, opened with a nice hiss.
A- Pours a golden reddish brown with about a finger of white frothy head that quickly recedes and leaves nice spidery lacing. About average carbonation.
S- Light strawberries, some light brett funk, oak, red wine, some earthy grains. Interesting smell, but not too strong.
T- Strawberries mixed with light red wine, earthy grains, a tiny bit of sour funk (very light, more earthiness), a little bit of oak. Interesting, complex, very refreshing, very well balanced.
M- Light, refreshing, average carbonation, very easy to drink, very smooth.
O- I definitely enjoyed this beer, another great offering from Tired Hands. It had a very nice refreshing taste that was very well balanced and definitely easy to drink. Not too much fruit, could have maybe used a little bit more aroma and taste strength. I didn't enjoy this beer as much as Delicado, but it was definitely very good and almost equally as refreshing.

What an awesome beer; I was torn between getting a growler fill of this or delicado and it was only my hophead friends who pushed me towards the latter. Still, this is a super tasty refresher perfect for a blazing hot summer day.
Hazy burnished gold brew with a small white head that settles down quickly. Nice lacing remains. Complex aroma of sweet and lightly tart strawberry; grainy malt, funky wet hay. Taste packs all that and more; lots of fresh strawberry flavor that's both sweet and tart. A nice little malt backbone meshes well with spices and that funky hay and horseblanket note lurking beneath.
Medium to slightly light bodied with moderate carbonation and a very smooth and creamy feel that's nonetheless quite crisp and refreshing. Clean semi dry finish. Just a delicious beer, one of my favorites so far. Awesome Jean!
