Review from a couple weeks ago. On tap at the source. The brew pours a clear color of orange with a frothy finger of head. Stringy lace sticks to the glass with some spots remaining after a swirl.

The nose is bold with hops smelling fruity and citrus-like with rindy herbal aspects. This brew smells sticky and resinous with hoppiness. A little malt backing thats fresh and grainy but primarily the aromatics are all about the hops.

The taste is fruity to floral along with plenty of citrus hop character that gets a little grassy. It displays a modest amount of bitterness and is overall fairly clean and without fault. Of all the hoppy brews ive tried from this brewery, this was the most neutral or "to style" as they come.

This is a medium bodied brew wity a light amount of carbonation. It was a little light and watery but that made for it to be super easy drinking and something I would return to again to drink. Nicely done and worth a try.

Thanks to Moll for procuring this growler. Served in Tired Hands stemware. Heavy pine and light body. Bitterness is pretty heavy, yet still quite drinkable. As almost always with Jean's beers, I was way more than happy to kill most of a growler of this one, and I would have been more than happy to start polishing off a second one.

Enjoyed on tap at the brewpub. Lots of citrus hops, Cascade, Falconer, Simco, Zythos. I was not advised of Nelson Sauvin hops not did I sense any white wine characteristic, so perhaps a differrence batch. Lacey on orange coloured body. Smooth. Another good pale executed. Good drinkability.

On-tap at the brewpub

Pours a somewhat clear orange color with a firm bone white cap. Spotty lacing all over the glass. Good retention. The nose is of bright ruby red grapefruit, oranges, and tangerines with a bed of clean pale malt. A little spicy. Definitely a little more hop forward then some of the other APA offerings. On the palate, grapefruit juice rushes onto the scene. Juicy citrus up front with clean malt through the middle. The finish is of bitter citrus that lingers for quite a bit. A nice, compact APA with a good bitter punch. Medium body with smooth carbonation. I really enjoyed this offering.

Presentation: 64 oz. growler filled on 12/2 chilled and served into a pint glass. Big thanks to Centennial for the growler and getting it to me fresh. He suggested I share this with some people, but I decided to tackle this all by my lonesome.

Appearance: Growler opens with a hiss and pours a nice two finger, fluffy white head. Bright yellow to light orange in color. Completely clear.

Aroma: Some bright pine and citrus, balanced with some grassy, earthy hop aromas. The hop varieties used work really well together. I can be oversensitive to Simcoe at times but it is not to strong here at all IMO. Some toasted malt notes in the background. Really nice balance of earthy and citrus hop tones.

Taste: Citrus and pine notes upfront. Some of the more bitter, earthy, dank hop notes come in right after the initial juicy portion. The malt bill adds a nice toasty character, but it stays squarely in the background and allows the hops to really be the main component. Really clean aftertaste. I am really enjoying the interplay of the hops.

Mouthfeel: Light bodied and plenty of carbonation. Really nice, crisp and refreshing throughout.

Overall, a really tasty, hoppy pale ale with great drinkability. Pint after pint went down smooth and were enjoyable and tasty. This is the second hoppy beer I've had from Tired Hands and both have impressed. I really like a lot of the things they are doing. I would certainly order this again.

On Tap at The Brew Cafe in Ardmore,

Earthbound is a typical pale ale color looking bright golden with some shades of light orange/yellow poking out. A nice firm inch of bright white bubbles on top that are tight, rings around the glass. Alot of activity and clean looking. Smell is dominated by hops but there is a nice pale malt backing that up. Light tropic fruit scents, orange etc, juicyfruit, biscuit and the like. It's not very pungent but smells like a pale. Taste is very balanced between pale malt and what I am guessing is simcoe/Amarillo. Hop bitterness with some pine and tropic fruit. No bells or whistles, str8 pale. Body is light considering the alcohol involved, seems like it should have a bolder feel, but Im not complaining. Carbonation is crisp. This is a great pale, not much different from other TH pales, a definite running theme here. A pint of this would be easy to take down.

on tap at the brewery

Pours a hazed golden orange color with a thick crop of white head resting on top. Retains well - as most Tired Hands beers do - while leaving spotty, webbed lacing on the glass.

Straight up pale ale aroma with an added dimension of citrus. Grapefruit and grassy with biscuit malts and bitter hoppiness.

Juicy grapefruit and orange up front with crisp, grassy hops. Toasted grain and biscuit with a mild malt backbone followed by a soft sweetness. Finishes bitter with juicy citrus.

Lighter medium body, creamy and slick on the tongue. This is a great candidate for a growler - easy drinking, plenty of pithy citrus character and a clean finish, although I still prefer Hop Hands.
