Shared by MrChopin. Thanks Kevin.

The beer is dark brown with a small, wispy, fleeting head. The aroma offers oak, roast, chocolate. The flavor is odd. A bit of nail polish and harshness throughout. Roast and chocolate are losing the battle. Mediocre at best.

Served on-tap at the Brewpub. Reviewed from notes.

A - Pours black with a half finger tall tan head leaving small trails of lace down parts of the glass.

S - Smells of bready rye, chocolate malt, mild dark roast, light farmhouse funk, oak and light tartness. Later opened a growler of this one and it wasn't near as good as this was.

T - Starts off with the bready rye and the chocolate malt sweetness slowly giving way to some musty funk, dark fruit, oak tannins and some dark roasted malt. Finish is a little sweet with some lingering dryness. Growler didn't fare nearly as well as the draft did.

M - Medium-Heavy body with moderate carbonation. It has a funky/roasty feel throughout that starts to wear on the palate.

O - I enjoyed this one but its nothing ground breaking. Kind of tastes like a spontaneous black ale with some extra roast thrown in on top. We opened a growler later, if only it would have been this good.

domo on tap 1/5!13

apperance: Black in color with a small root beer colored tan head that quickly settles to a ring. Around the glass

Nose: a tart fruit smell to it but has some deep notes of leather and smoke. Kinda like a old ale with some smoke, oak, Bitter chocolate.

Taste: wow very different. A little tart up front with wine notes. Wood, roastness to it but surprising light and crisp... Bitter flavor on the back end. As it warms more alcohol is present. Really different and interesting.

mouthfeel: light and thin with moderate carbonation. it works well.

Overall: I like this beer. But although drinkable, its not something I would drink several of. I enjoyed This beer best of what was on tap. And they were all very good beers. Tired hands is putting out some top notch stuff.

On tap at the brewpub 1/4/12

Appearance: Inky black with a small tan head

Nose: Smells like nothing else. Acetic vinegar, tart lemon and grape from the red wine balanced by rich, dark chocolate and a hint of smoke.

Taste: Really different and interesting. Sour hits first with lemon juice and ripe apple, a hint of vinegar, followed by a deep sweet chocolate and vanilla undertone. Finishes with a hint of spicy oak.

Mouthfeel: Probably the creamiest, fullest feeling barrel-fermented beer I've had.

Overall: Really original and enticing beer from Tired Hands. Really unlike anything else I've tasted and definitely successful. The top brew on tap when I visited, although everything I tried was impressive.
