1L growler, filled 2/7/13, drank 2/8/13
DFH IPA glass
A: Pours a really light yellow orange. Almost piss yellow. Some hazy on it. Good carb on growler. Layer of bright white head. Leaves some good lacing.
S: This smells of more earthy herbaceous smell here. Maybe some garlic and onion. Some pine notes. Light malt bill.
T: Up front you get that strange herb like flavor. Thin malt bill. Dry finish. Hop bitterness.
M: Medium bodied.

32oz brewery filled growler. Hazed gold (almost a grapefruit color) with a rich bright-white head. Lots of sticky spotty lacing left behind. The aroma is fresh, herbal and fruity, with a bit more of a zesty aggressiveness underneath. Soft doughy maltiness hangs along the back. The taste profile is soft up front with juicy white grapes, light tropical fruit and some herbal textures. An underlying crisp citric presence leaves lingering leafy bitterness and pine in the finish. Doughy malt balances this well. Medium bodied with a crisp feel up front that segues into more of a slick creaminess across the back. Alcohol is well hid but does start to wear its welcome out after a while. I initially liked this but the more I worked through the growler, the more I realized that the combination of Nelson Sauvin hops (of which this features plenty of) and high alcohol here just didn’t mesh that well and I actually got a little bored with this after about a glass and a half. This was interesting (in a good way mostly) but I wish the overall drinkability had been a little better.

Pours a fully clouded yellow, moderate cap of froth. Strong notes of grapefruit, citrus, floral hops, mildly piney and grassy. Taste brings full spectrum of hop qualities - bitter, rind and pith -, mild, lightly grainy pale malt profile and some lingering alcohol notes. Medium bodied, touch more carbonation than preferred. Really bitter and hoppy, lingering qualities only downside.

on tap at the brewpub
Hazed orange pour, creamy froth of white head, plenty of sticky lacing streaking the glass while drinking.
Super citrus forward nose with biting hops and caramel malts. Alcohol heat is present with some bread crust and honey.
Splash of heavy-handed grapefruit hoppiness with orange peel. Pithy and pulpy, bitter and boozy on the tongue. Fuller malt backbone delivers some tempering sweetness with caramel. Noticeable alcoholic finish with lingering bitter hoppiness.
Fuller medium body, sticky and creamy on the tongue, decent carbonation. I had no trouble finishing off my glass, but the finish and overall balance was a little harsh compared to other DIPAs from TH.
