First had: on tap at TH

Hazy pale yellow pour, nearly opaque, with a solid cap of creamy white head that retained well and coated the glass with lacing. I do love Simcoe hops, in case I've never mentioned it before, and they were bountiful in the aroma, nice and grapefruity, with an underlying bready yeast coming through. Good melding of brett and citrusy hops in the taste, notes of tropical fruit, sweet malts. Smooth, soft mouthfeel, light-medium body, and pleasantly drinkable.

Growler poured into a Tired Hands wine stem.

Pour: Bright, hazy golden orange with three fingers of foamy, thick white head. Lots of sticky lacing, and the head retains for most of the glass.

Smell: Big spicy yeast notes up front, and a touch of earthy funk. Some dank floral and grassy notes, as well a a touch of bright citrus. Lots of bready yeast.

Taste: Very similar to the nose, but with a bigger presence of citrus. Lots of earthy funk. Some stone fruits. A bit of white pepper. Finishes with stone fruits and earthy funk.

Mouthfeel: Lightly bitter. Mildly drinkable due to the heavy brett influence, but refreshing nonetheless.

Overall: Another excellent Tired Hands offering. I wish I had more access to the Darwin series.

From their website: "Fauna: The third in our Darwin Solera series. Oat based pale ale hopped with all Simcoe. Fermented with two strains of Brettanomyces from Chad Yakobson at Crooked Stave. 6.5%"

From 03/24/13 notes. Had an 8oz. pour at the brewpub in Ardmore, PA.

a - Pours a murky, hazy, pale yellow color with one inch of bright white head and moderate carbonation evident.

s - Smells of brett, citrus hops, wheat, lemon, floral hops, earthy notes, bread, and yeast. Nice brett and citrus mix, I like it a lot.

t - Taste of brett, tropical fruits, pineapples, floral hops, fruity malts, wheat, grains, bread, and some light citrus. taste does not have as much citrus as the nose but more fruit overall. Light mustiness.

m - Medium body and moderate carbonation. Body is very smooth, like all Tired Hands beers. No alcohol presence.

o - Overall I likd this one a lot; I think out of the beers I tried last weekend at TH, this was my second favorite behind the Magotago. Nice brett and citrus in the nose, and nice tropical fruits in the taste. Very easy to drink, would definitely get it again.
