64oz. growler (2 days old) into a Pizza Boy pint.

Heavy pour yields a .5 finger coarse white head with low retention. Beer is a semi-cloudy pale yellow. Lacing is non-existent. Pretty poor but rather on par for the style.

Nose is spritzy tart lemon with lightly malty overtones and just the slightest touch of yeast. Pretty aromatic. Real simple.

Opens yeasty, wheat, and citrus tartness. More of the same in the middle with a malt body that emerges towards the end. Some lemon rind and orange pulp in there too. Finishes lightly tart with a yeasty, semi-sweet-tart aftertaste. A touch watered down but still pretty solid for the style.

Light bodied with moderate to ample carbonation. Slick and lively in the mouth and goes down moderately dry and quenching. Finish is dry with a lingering, slightly filmy aftertaste. Super drinkable.

This isn't a stand-out in the style but nonetheless its still a very solid brew. Simple from the nose to the palate but very drinkable and I could see myself imbibing this all day in the summer.

First had: on tap at TH

Straw-yellow pour, cloudy, with a small foamy white head that fizzled down to a tiny ringlet fairly quickly; minimal lacing. In the nose, toasty wheat was dominant, light hints of lemon pith with a slight funk. More toasted wheat in the taste, very grainy, again, slight touches of lemon and funk, but mostly earthy grains and not a whole lot else. Not much as far as tartness goes really. Mouthfeel was light and a bit watery, but refreshing and drinkable nonetheless, lower carbonation. No acrid or metallic twinges present, which I sometimes get from beers that are more on the grainy side, so that's a plus. Decent.

A: Pours a light yellow to pink color coming from the blueberry green tea syrup added. Head is minimal but does offer some spotted lacing.

S: Citrus, lemon, bright.

T: Slight sour taste, but blueberry and green tea enhance the flavor and provide another layer for enjoyment. Sour up front with a sweeter flavor towards the back.

M: Light, airy.

O: Definitely a summer sessionable brew - awesome flavor for sitting on the porch on a hot day.

Big thanks to BA Slatetank for hooking me up with this. 1-liter growler into a matching oversized TH glass. The brew pours a hazed light yellow color with a finger of fizzy white head that collapses audibly very fast and appears still in no time. A swirl releases a countable amount of bubbles to the surface that pop immediately.

The aroma starts off pretty good. It smells of lemony lacto almost like yogurt and mild fruity tinges around the edges. Quite abruptly though it takes a turn to grainy and almost corn-like with a strange sweetness about the nose coupled with fresh wheaty grains.

The flavor leaves a lot to be desired unfortunately. It honestly takes me 3-4 gulps to wrap my head around what is going on here. It is saline...savory and more like a gose that never soured more-so than a berliner. The saline solution and mild brine gives way to a pilsner sort of footy grain character like cheese and yogurt funk but without the tartness. Instead of fresh and grainy, it flirts with corn and a feel that is stale instead of bright and snappy.

This is a light bodied brew with a light amount of carbonation. It fails in more ways than it doesnt. Hardly any tartness, not easy drinking, clean nor crisp. Not enough carbonation. I am saddened that so many people have told me that these guys have made the best american made berliner ever (brothers) yet I missed out on that and the 2 I have tried are not even marginally decent (this and the kiwi one.) Better luck next time, avoid or rethink your decision if you are considering making a special trip or going out of your way to try this. I know these guys can make a killer berliner based on how their kvass was...this one just misses the mark.

Pour is a pale yellow, light haze, with a white head. The nose is still green, minerally and salty, light lemon and ester with a fair bit of grain depth. Taste is green up front, clean grain profile, some light lemon esters, fairly salty and minerally.
