Style: American Pale Ale (APA)

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 5.00%

Availability: Limited (brewed once)

Notes / Commercial Description:
Our fresh hop pale ale dry (wet)-hopped with hops grown by Julie's parents on their farm in New Paltz, NY. This is one of my favorite beers of the year... So pungent, dank, and melon-y.

Served on-tap at the pub.

A - Pours hazy yellow with a nice creamy one finger tall white head, slowly dissipating down to a thin film, leaving sticky rings of lace on the sides of the glass.

S - Smells of strong fresh cut grass, tropical fruit zest, pine resin and some bready oats.

T - Starts off with the strong fresh grass and pine resin hops quickly being joined by the fruity zest, chewy oats and a touch of sweetness. Finish is quite dry from the hop bitterness, lingering long after the finish.

M - Medium body with moderate carbonation. Smooth, bitter feel as most Tired Hands IPA's are.

O - A very nice fresh hop IPA. It has all of the flavors I look for in an IPA and the smooth feel makes it very easy to consume.

On tap at TH.

Typical appearance: hazy yellowish color, nice white head that receded to a collar and held there, lacing the glass nicely. In the aroma, toasted bread, green hops, grass, light notes of citrus rind. In the taste, fresh grass, leafy hops, summertime, pine needles. toasted grains. Medium body, clean mouthfeel...almost indistinguishable from HopHands really, but that's not a bad thing.

*Newest batch (09/15) is a serious improvement!

on tap at the brewpub

Clouded golden pour with a thick topping of bone white head. Filmy rings of lacing cling to the glass while drinking. Extremely fragrant nose with lush, fresh cut hoppiness, sweet fruit and citrus zest. Heavy-handed dosage of hops on the tongue right up front with citrus peel, hoppy spice and nice bitterness. There's an extraordinary melon flavor throughout, juicy and flavorful on top of a mild malty backbone. Fruity, lightly sweet and bitter in the finish. Medium body, well carbonated and slightly creamy on the tongue.

This was a dead-on hit during the HandFarm B2 release day, and I was bummed to learn there was only 2 kegs produced (no growler fills either). The brew was created by blending Infinite Energy and Hop Hands together, then dry hopping with 4 lbs (2lbs per keg) of fresh hops harvested from Jean's own plants. The hop strains are unknown, so the mashup of flavors was a fun guessing game, although the melon was probably one of the more dominant flavors. I hope they're able to do this again someday.
