Thick, bright head on pour that  lingered the entire time. Very sharp carbonation in the can, but it mellows when poured into a stein. The medium body is floral and malty up front with a spiced hop aftertaste. There is an interesting play of sweet and sour that makes this beer stand out. It's not my favorite kolsch, but just unique enough to be a flavorful change of pace.

South Austin Brewery "Kol'Beer"
16 oz. can

Interesting packaging. I'm assuming it's based on a beer from the past that they've taken as their own. And if that's the case I'm guessing that they've done it better than it's ever been done before. It's crystal clear gold in color beneath a fluffy head of bright white. The head retention and lacing could be better, but what do you expect. The aroma is pretty straightforward with a grainy maltiness, a mildly grassy/herbal & spicy hop component, and a delicately fruitiness. The flavor follows suit, and it's clearly pilsner malt with Germans hops (I'll guess Hallertauer and Saazer). Of course that's not a hard recipe to follow, the question is how carefully is it fermented and lagered. Pretty nicely I think. Clean. Crisp and dry. Not bad at all.

Nice clear pale yellow look. Not picking up much in way of smell. Nothing stands out. Taste is crisp with a peppery finish and slight floral taste, good carbonation. Nice gateway beer or or one for the heat
