Appearance: Had a finger worth of head that stuck around well enough although didn't lace. Clear body and steady carbonation. Nothing exceptional, but no complaints.

Smell: It certainly has a grainy smell, as barely and a dry wheat smell permeate it, although I don't know if that's accurate. It's certainly a grain smell, and I know it's not wheat but it doesn't smell at all like rice, unless it's some kind of obscure wild rice. Good though.

Taste: Starts with a mixture of barley and rice that builds nicely ti a more grainy taste and has what I think is a water chestnut undercurrent to it that offers a degree of uniqueness and then promptly ends with a light hop dose.

Mouthfeel: The carbonation really helps make it's case and the transitioning is quite good. It's a little bit watery to start, but it's a minor complaint. Little aftertaste which is a double edged sword, but I appreciated it.

Drinkability: Very easy to drink, and tastes like I am drinking a premium beer. Sadly the price doesn't quite serve it so well, but I'll try no to hold that against it. A little bit too light bodied, but I suspect that's due to the rice smoothing things out instead of pure barley.

Final Thoughts: My first experience with this style was Asahi Super Dry, and this blows it out of the water. It's an all around good lager with a unique taste, which is what I want and expect from this style.

This Sapporo is brewed in Toronto, CANADA and it is one of the best beers I have every tasted. Often I enjoy a light beer which is a no no to some beer lovers but I think that is ridiculous.

This beer is the most refreshing of beers. Everything a light beer should be but isn't.

Big fan of oriental beers, and this is one of my favourites.

An nice, light colour, but little head and little lacing. Nice, light yeasty smell.

One of the best tasting lagers, Crisp and refreshing, packed with flavour, but dissapates quickly with almost no after taste.

This is a good hot day beer, perfect for those BBQ's and backyard pool parties. A great everyday beer.

Brewed in Canada, awesome.

Poured from the heavy duty can; pale golden with a head that doesn't last.

Aroma and taste are pretty typical for this style; Malty and macro tasting, lacking crispness, with a slight fruity potting soil nose. Eh, not worth it, might as well have a Bud.

Sapporo Breweries Ltd. Rice lager 5% alcohol.
Poured into a pilsner glass.

A- Pours a light crisp golden fluid with nice fluffy white head that falls to decent patchy lacing.

S- Smell is a musty rice and hop concoction that lingers on the nose.

T-M- Taste is good with hints of rice cake, sharp bitter hop bite, and light malty backbone.
Mouthfeel is smooth with an excellent dry quality that rolls over the tongue with ease.

Overall this is a good drinking beer I will re-invite again.

I had this beer in a Tampa restaurant called Ciccio's. I'd go back to the restaurant anytime. Not sure about having this beer again. Not that it was bad, it just reminded me too much of a macro lager. The beer was a pale yellow color with a thin white head. A little malt in the aroma, and a little malt in the taste, also a bit of hops (a very little bit). It drank easily, and went well with my noodle bowl.

In my father-in-law's fridge for the holiday... so why not?

Appearance: Pours light yellow - very pale and clear.

Smell: Grainy. The scent could probably pass for an American Macro Lager. Nothing impressive at all (but nothing offensive either.)

Taste: There's not much to the taste. I could tell right away that rice is the primary adjunct here. The flavor is grainy with a very dry finish.

Mouthfeel: Light bodied, but quite fizzy.

Drinkability: I'm left unsatisfied with a dry mouthfeel. If anything, it makes me crave a good winter holiday brew.

Overall: Maybe this could be a beer for your guests who swear by the beers that they see on commercials during football games - perhaps served with Japanese cuisine. Actually, just save some money and buy an American Macro Lager. Or better still, offer something with flavor and let's your friends bring the 30-packs if they'd like :-D

It pours a very clean light yellow color. The carbonation level was very low and it didn't make much of a head. Its aroma and flavor were subdued with hints of light malts and rice. There was only a slight dry bitterness on the tongue. The body was thin with a mild carbonation and a crisp clean finish. Over all a very simple ok beer.

Poured from a bottle into a beer glass. Pours a light straw/gold. Not much on the nose, some malt and... beer? Lively carbonation, light, fluffy head which quickly turns sparse. Lacing on the glass is wispy.

Tastes very crisp, a bit of sweetish malt and some hop finish. Incredibly light, clean taste. Very refreshing. Not much aftertaste or punch. No adjuncts detectable, a totally straightforward example of this style. The mouthfeel is thin.

This beer is actually surprisingly drinkable and an OK example for the style - very crisp, good served cold and paired with snack food.
