Poured this undated 20.3 oz. brown bottle into a pilsner glass. The bottle was embossed with the Sapporo logo and founding date, 1876. The beer was a clear pale yellow with a bubbly white head and some clingy lace.

Smell was of pleasant floral hops.

Taste was lemony. Faint husk. Refreshing and crisp. There was a mild sweetness from the malts/rice.

Mouthfeel was thin and somewhat watery. Mildly zesty yet smooth in the finish.

Medium pale straw color with a nice creamy head atop. Smells weak but with a touch of rice husks. Taste is better than smell. More body than most other Asian beers I've tried. Still is rice dominate but has a nicer sweetness with no off flavors like many beers in its categories. A touch fruity with good carbonation in the middle. Finish is super dry. Just nothing. Quenches my thirst for sure.

About what you would expect from a Japanese mass-market beer. A light, American style Pilsner that obviously uses rice as an adjunct. It's an easy drinking beer that's good on a hot day. IT does have a bit of a bite towards the back of the tounge that makes it a little more interesting than your standard fare.

Pour: Decent head that doesn't last very long. Slightly darker than straw.

Nose: Standard lager smell. Slighthint of maltiness. Very little hoppiness.

Taste: Again....nothing to write home about. Nice balance between maltiness and hops. To ricey, but that could just be me. Fairly acidic.

Overall, drink it while you're mowing your lawn or putting on a new roof.

Poured from a glass 12 oz bottle into a pint glass.

A- Pale straw yellow. No head. Decent carbonation.

S- Definitely a rice beer. A lot like american macro lagers. Thin.

T- Thin, watery. Not so great. Slight hoppy taste.

M- Slightly dry and fizzy.

D- eh. This doesn't impress me.

Served right out of the fridge into a pilsener glass. Code underneath reads E0906FL.

Appearance- Pours a medium straw gold supporting a light, fluffy 2" head. Dozens of effervescent streams launch from the bottom, creating a very active appearance. Thin, but decent lacing all down the inside of my glass. On a rougher pour, the head displays a subtle cragginess.

Smell- Dry, musty cardboard and old hops... not very pleasant. The aroma is, in a nutshell, stale.

Taste- Damn... after drinking really good beer for a while now, it's hard to look back... even for just reviewing! The taste is largely bland adjuncts (rice) and the dry, hop bitterness in the finish. I wouldn't turn this down with sushi, that's for sure... it would let the raw fish express their individual nuances without any interference from the beer. Otherwise, this is worthless IMO.

Mouthfeel/Drinkability- Ahhh, yes, thankfully the mouthfeel here is excellent... alive and elegant, with nice prickliness. No doubt this has its place with Japanese food... it's easy drinking and its lack of character is actually a positive spin, you could argue. Save this one for your next trip to the sushi bar.

Sapporo pours a transparent pale straw color with about one finger of head that holds form nicely.

Saaz hops are seemingly detectable in the nose with a somewhat unpleasant metallic scent that lingers.

Hmm, not really doing it for me. The malt content is really unbalanced and the bitterness is rather annoying. The carbonation is really what gets me as it is far too fizzy for its own good. This screams "food beer." After pairing with a three-course sushi meal, the flavors are neutralized somewhat although there is a grainy aftertaste that persists. Not one of my favorites.

Pours yellow with a funky foamy head that quickly dissipates. Nose is somewhat fruity with a hint of malt. Taste is crisp and clean a bit of malt with very little hops. Goes well with Japanese steak. Mouth feel was light with lots of carbonation. Overall an average beer that goes well with oriental food.

Slightly above average....yellow color...light fruity nose...fresh aroma...

Taste is sweet for the style..medium bodied...pretty smooth...slightly dry finish...nothing remarkable about this but decent enough...seems like a thirst quencher type of beer..

Enjoyed at a businessman's special day baseball game.
Typical pale yellow with half finger head of a macro lager.
Also very typical macro aromas but no hint of either rice or corn. Rather nice.
Taste was very refreshing....light malt with just a faint hop bite at the end but again no adjuncts noticable. I did, however, notice a hint of salt in the taste of this beer. Strange.
Aftertaste was clean and refreshing.

Appearance: great creamy head with urine colored body.

Smell: Faint graininess and the smell of autumn air a bit. Seriously.

Taste: There's nothing interesting here. It's just plain Pale lager with a grainy taste. It doesn't have a bad aftertaste though.

Mouthfeel: It's smooth and leaves sort of a film on your tongue.

Drinkability: Easy to drink. I'm sure it'd go great with Japanese or "American" food.

Pale yellow brew with an almost greenish-grey hue. Soapy dishwater head only lasts a minute before subsiding to a collar of white suds. There is a decent amount of lace, and the bottle is really cool. But this is still a relatively unattractive beer.

The nose is full of rice and a general fruity flavor that's hard to place. Slightly floral and sweet like a flower garden.

Tastes unique, that's for sure. Doesn't really taste...good per say, but it's different. That counts for something. Tastes like rice paper with a strange spicyness in the background. The finish is very and peppery.

This beer is weak and not very complex, but what flavor it does offer is very bizzare and foreign to my taste buds. That's not a bad thing, but it's just weird tasting.

This one is highly carbonated and very thin, but the bottle says "crisp, clear, refreshing" and that it is! I gave it a pretty high mouthfeel score due to the very unique, highly carbonated, and super dry feel. I kinda like it in this aspect!

This is slaking my summer thirst quite well, and it's altogether not a bad beer, but it's just different. Like other reviewers, I have a strong feeling that this would pair extremely well with the delicate flavors of sashimi.

The appearance was a light amber with a pretty standard smell for a lager; small traces of rice. It left a small amount of lacing on the glass. The taste was slightly dry with a fair amount of carbonation. Mouthfeel was OK, as was the drinkability. This beer is pretty standard. Goes well with spicy asian food, but would also be totally fine with american fare as well.

A- when I poured this it looked like your average lager. there was a light tinge to its color making you think that it could pass for a light beer.

S- as I smelled it I could definately smell the rice in it, but what do you expect from a rice lager?

T- I liked the dry taste of this beer, especially paired with the sushi that I was having that night. The combination of dry beer and salty food I felt played well. I felt that they went hand in hand and complimented each other well. I really don't know how well this would stand with other types of food but I figure as long as the food being served is of a salty or even heavy persuasion then I feel it would hold its own.

M- as I let the beer sit in my mouth I really could not get a sense of what this beer was. It really had no mouthfeel, it just sat there.

D- I am big into pairing beer with food and even though I would not drink this on any given nite I certainly will order it again when having sushi/asian food.

Pours dark yellow, similar to the star that's on the car or bottle. White head, no retention, no lacing. There was barely any cap left after pouring the beer.

Musty fungus like aroma.

Super adjunct flavor, barely any malt or hop flavors. Almost nothing but sour beer.

Watery, light carbonation.

Not recommended. This review seems slim, but there is nothing more to add about this beer. I would rather consume a BMC.

This beer poured a nice clear golden yellow, with a nice white head that lasted for several minutes. The smell is hoppy and though the taste at first seems to be light, the mouthfeel is full and hoppy. Though I prefer a more malty beer, this is not too hoppy for me to consider it a drinkable beer.

This beer poured a clear golden/straw type color with a thick persistent head. The smell is hoppy and very reminiscent of what I think of as bar beer. The taste is mellow and flavorful. It is not as hoppy as I would have expected. The mouthfeel is on the thin side but not quite watery. Overall this is a drinkable beer and could be considered refreshing.

This beer has a dark golden color with an airy head that sticks around as you drink it. It has a filtered hoppy smell that doesn’t over power. The flavor is faint and crisp. The hops are balanced well. The beer has a smooth start and finishes slightly heavy. This beer is drinkable and would be a fine accompaniment to a stake or other red meat.

A - Poured out a pale yellow with a small, white head. Highly carbonated.

S - It smelled of corn. There was a slight hint of skunk.

T - Taste was very grassy. It wasn't hoppy or spicy. It didn't really have much to it.

M - It was crisp and light-bodied.

D - It is an okay lager. Not something that I would grab often, though.

From the 12 oz bottle.

Pours a yellow gold with a nice, dense, snow white head. Head dissiaptes to basically nothing halfway through the beer. Nose is faint, light pale malt, some faint earthy hops.

Lots of carbonation in this one, masks alot of flavor. Lightly grassy malt, definite rice character in there, just enought hop to keep it from being sweet. Very crisp, not as thin as you would expect. A step above basic for a Japanese lager. Considering where it's from and the style, not bad.

Poured a bottle into a 12oz pub glass.

Appearance: Medium yellow that pours nearly no head. Any head that is left remains in a small perimeter of bubbles around the edges of the glass. Honestly, the color reminds me of urine, which isn't terribly appetizing.

Smell: Slight, grainy smell that is somewhat stale and sour.

Taste: A little bitter, with some sweet and straw overtones, finishing with a metallic aftertaste. Has slightly more flavor than an American macro, but it's still weak and not terribly pleasant. Not thirst-quenching either.

Mouthfeel: It's thin and watery, but has a strange oily quality to it that caught me off guard. Strange texture.

Drinkability: I'm sure I could drink a bunch of these in succession if it was all that was offered, but I'm not impressed. Bad aftertaste and smell really detract from me wanting to drink more than one of these.

22 oz. silver can - no date - brewed by Sapporo in Ontario, Canada.

Poured straw yellow with a bubbly white head that rapidly fell to a few bubbles.

The smell was thin - a slight floral scent dominated by sulphur.

The taste was mainly water. At a stretch, there was some sulphur and a touch of bitterness, which quickly turned into a lingering sweetness. After awhile, a metallic taste comes through.

It left a dry, metallic feel despite its high water quality.

I can't even see having this with an Asian meal - skip it. If you do venture it, make sure it's cold, otherwise a funky chemical taste sets in.

Decent pale golden lager. A tiny little bitter bite, not too much. Nice mouthfeel, Could drink a couple, but would get bored after a while.
Don't buy this unless it's cheap, it's not anything special. Doesn't taste special. It tastes like an american lager. I don't know why some of my friends think this is so awesome. It's pretty decent but not that great.

Futuristic-looking 22oz aluminum can (which turns out to be very hard to crush). There's some code stamped on the bottom, but I cannot decode it.

Pours a very clear Budweiser gold, with a fluffy white head. In a big glass mug it actually looks refreshing. I can't say there's any aroma to speak of, as hard as I sniff.

Not much there tastewise either, except for some bitterness at the end. Any pale malts that the brewery uses are not very assertive in the palate. Though, overall, it's fairly dry and crisp.

The can looks pretty cool. The beer is not as impressive.

This poured from the can a very standard macro lager-esque yellow but with a nice foamy head that quickly subsided leaving some lacing at the top of the glass.
This stuff smells pretty bad, some cooked cabbage, a slightly metallic odor makes it's way up. Not the nicest. This is reflected in the flavor, the rice is evident in this as an adjunct. This isn't the smoothest beer i've had, but it really isn't that hard to drink, but with all that being said I don't think I'd be rushing out to get this one again.

Visual: Light, clean golden color, slightly creamy head that faded quickly, decent amount of carbonation.
Aroma: Very minimal aroma, slightly metallic (iron?).
Flavor: Not much at beginning and middle – just a bit of malt, then slight bitterness in finish, which is rather persistent in aftertaste.
Mouthfeel: Very light on the tongue, dryness in aftertaste
Overall: Another Japanese beer imported from... Canada! Overall, this is pretty much forgettable, but I wouldn't turn one down after cutting the lawn.
