Despite what evryone hold against the Japanese for making beers. This one has the ticket.
A: like any lager beer...golden amber with little carbonation
S: like a heineken, with a skunky aroma
T: Robust and skunky...awesome...love it rich skunk taste...better than a Heiny..uless its wearing a Kimono
M: smooth and silky
D: an easy 12er with 6 bottles of warm sake to wash down some great Kotobuki sushi
I love it and look forward to it on every Sushi Occasion

Appearance: Clear golden brew with good carbonation. Foamy white head.
Smell: Solid malt with a clean malt presence.
Taste: Rich malt with good hop flavor. Very crisp and balanced.
Mouthfeel: Medium body. Creamy smoothness.
Drinkablity: Only in Hokkaido, the tastiest basic Sapporo brew. Good hop presence for a Japanese brew.

Overall, good. Had this while saki bombing, and for the situation it is a great beer. Something to have some fun with. Not bitter as i remember, and not really a beer to sip on. More of a beer for downing to get woosted. I was also a little surprised, i had lower expectations from a Japanese import.

A - Really clear gold, no head when the beer was set in front of me.
S - Mostly just a little malt nose, metallic.
T - It came across alot cleaner than the smell indicated, pretty malty.
M - Smooth, well carbonated, good session beer.
D - Pretty drinkable, there's nothing really outstanding it, but nothing that's gonna keep you away from it either.

This was one of my souvenirs from my wife and daughter's recent trip to Japan. They thought this would be a good one to bring back for me to try with its limited distribution.
Poured this beer into my original Hoffbrau glass and admired the deep golden color and white creamy head, which was turned to a lace around the glass in not too long.
A balance of hops and malt in the aroma (I am not sure I am familiar enough with rice to pick that up in the aroma?) ...some harshness in the taste, but generally a decent albeit nondescript beer. I would have no trouble with a couple of pints of this.
It certainly went well with the tacos that I had...so a Japanese beer in a German glass with Mexican food. My international night.

Pale gold color with small carbonation, copious lacing and white head. Very light raw malt aroma.
Nice long bitterness, with a rather gooey sappy, though light hoppyness. Very firm maltness, not sweetness, except for sweet flavors that play well with the bitter finish.
Carbonation done very well.
I would not out of my way to find this again, but this is a slight head about most Japanese lagers, in that its a well defined beer.

This is the main offering by Sapporo that is only for Hokkaido (i.e. local) distribution. It features a pretty bland can, notwithstanding the nice shout-outs to Hokkaido all over it. The mandatory English inscription is:
"Brewed with carefully selected ingredients, Sapporo Classic is an eminently drinkable flavor extravagance."
It has a bold gold color, and a malty, sweet smell. It is much heavier and richer than Sapporo's Black Label. It's a little raw, with rough hops and a little alcoholly. It's nice--but one is usually enough for me. That said, it's really not that exciting. Check out the Sapporo Reijou for a more exciting taste.
