Brilliant clear yellow with tons of white foam. Spotty lacing.

Light, milky, skunky, dry, piney.

Deep wooden flavor. Oaky, light, crisp, dry, buttery, nice even coating, bitterness is spot on, zero sweetness.

This is a damn fine foreign brew. Thanks Brian and Diana for the travel brew!

White 2 cm head on a yellow gold body. Leafy malty aroma. Reminds me of a restina, firm lasting bitterness, but more than the average Japanese lager. A little husky, rich flavor. Significantly different from the common Japanese swill, but nothing amazing.

Yesibu (Stout Draft - huh?) poured a clear straw color with a modest white head. Funny, doesn’t look like a stout, draft or otherwise. Smell was a bit on the grainy side, sweetly malty, with some notes of floral hops. The taste was pretty sweet also. There were hints of tart apple in amongst the malt flavor and it had a light hoppy bite on the back of the palate. The feel was light, dry, and refreshing.
Strangely named, Yesibu (Stout Draft) is a decent beer to pair up with various Asian dishes, particularly spicy ones. By itself, it’s pretty average.

Pours a medium golden color with a bubbly white head that fades into a thin lace. Nose is stale grains and a bit of cooked corn. Taste is a bit of sweet malts up front followed by some notes of wet hay and musty grains. Some mildly bitter hops are present in the end leading to a dry finish. Better than many other Asian beers I’ve had, it’s still no better than an average brew.

GF purchased while in Japan this summer.

A - Pours golden with 1.5 fingers of head, and dissipates moderately slow. No lacing.

S - Honey and DMS.

T - Honey, bittering hops, and DMS.

M - Full-bodied, well balanced, and slightly bitter.

D - Overall, doesn't compare to most dortmunders I've tried, but is drinkable in comparison to the adjunct lagers in the states. The bitterness and DMS content is a little much for the style and there is a lack of malt complexity. Will pass on further yebisus.

Yebisu All Malt Lager

A_Pours a nice tan/gold hue with a soapy medium sized head. A nice stream of bubbles keep it afloat and in good shape.

S_Light grain aroma, not much more. At least it is not skunked.

T_A slightly sweet grain husk flavour kicks in at first. After this a very dry hoppy kick comes through. Mildly vegetal, it manages to taste like a lot of other brewed in Japan lagers. The finish is fairly bitter which makes this a nice match for a bowl of Tonkatsu Ramen.

M_Slightly thicker than the typical godlen lager.

D_Surprisingly not bad. A good choice at many Japanese restaurants or izakayas though a bit more expensive.

Bought locally (Grapevine refrigerated shelves), a few days in my fridge, reviewed 45F-65F.

Ah, I get it. It's a "stout" as in: "That's a pretty darn stout lager". This clear gold beer has a big, sticky, coarse white head. The collapse is noisy, uneven and clumpy. Good lacing. Very little carbonation.

I smell muchu roastiu nutsu, along with proof of lager. The taste starts off with candy giving way to a sourish, nutty middle. The finish is tangy and slightly sour. This is actually pretty darn good.

334ml. brown bottle with gold foiled labels on front and neck, a small brown and white label on the back. It pours a bright yellow-gold with a faint haze, topped with a white 1/2" foamy head. Carbonation is good, the head eventually settles to a ring and some patchy lace.

The smell is somewhat sweet, with grain and huskiness. Raw malty brew with notes of cereal cracker and grain.

Sweet grain intro, very much like raw straw, with the grassy hop flavor taking it down to a quenching clean finish. Very nice grainy flavor for this style...rather tasty too my surprise.

Medium body with some wateriness to the mouthfeel, other than that it's a very easy too drink, sessionable type lager. I prefer it to the canned Sapporo I've had in the past.

clear yellow with a fine, foamy white head. good stability. tiny bubbles, medium carbonation.

sweet malty aroma, with some spicy hop characteristic. nothing too mind-blowing.

flavor is a good mix of malt sweetness, light hop spiciness, and a dry finish.

smooth mouthfeel is fuller than expected, but very welcome. wasnt sure what to expect from this, but a pleasant surprise.

Golden colour, white head with partial and down-sliding lacing.

As it says on the label, aroma is mostly pleasant malt with some floral character. Flavour is similiar with rich malt and bittery finish, maybe with some sourness on the back. Overall, very drinkable and refreshing, very good for the mainstream beer.

Pale gold, white head that sinks.
Grassy aromas, tinge of sulfur.
Nutty grains and strong hop bitterness. Flavour reminds me of Resch's Pilsener of a decade or two ago, implying the use of Pride of Ringwood. Some nutty grain flavour.
Bitterness a tad unbalanced.
Good, crisp, & refreshing, but bitter.

Yebisu Stout Draft: Served from a fairly fancy sixteen-ounce bottle. Stout draft? No, not Guinness, but rather a darkish gold color under a very impressive thick white foamy head. Left some fairly thick lacing down the side as well. The aroma is fairly impressive, some skunk, some malts. The taste is impressive, and hard to compare to other beers. I can taste somewhat of a pronounced floral/vegetable taste, which follows up closely with bready malts. At the end, it is fairly clean, with a tiny bit of hops.

This "premium all malt beer" is the most expensive widely marketed beer in Japan, made by Sapporo. If you show up at a party with a six of Ebisu, everyone wants to be your friend--because they know right away you're a HIGHROLLER.

A rich bronze color with big bubbles. Virtually no head whatsoever, giving it instantly a gold jelloesque appearance. The nose is not too impressive, barely perceptible maltiness (did I really perceive it?!).

It tastes great though, with some nice crisp hoppy bitterness and round malty body. There's an extremely sharp carbonation onset--very nice mouthfeel--which changes over to clean hops and then abruptly stops. Very nice, very nice.

Appearance - 3.0
Poured a finger of bubbly off-white head over a golden body with considerable chill-haze.

Smell - 3.5
A clean and pleasant aroma that is malty sweet and slightly floral, but balanced with spicy hops.

Taste - 3.5
You can tell that this is an all-malt lager; it is slightly sweeter but much richer and more full-bodied than your run of the mill pale lager. A clean taste of grain, caramel, faint fruit, and finishes with a dry, spicy bitterness

Mouthfeel - 4.0
Fine and lively carbonation give a smooth mouthfeel.

Drinkability - 4.0
A great summer's session beer.

OVERALL 3.5
If it weren't for the price ($4.99 per bottle) this would likely be a frequent summer purchase for me. Unfortunately I am reviewing this on a cold autumn's day, it would be better appreciated (and possibly have scored higher) in summer.

Appearance: Clear golden brew with a foamy white head.

Smell: Bold malt presence with a good hop profile. Clean.

Taste: Sweet malt with a semi-bitter hop finish. Good attention to detail in this brew. Consistently good.

Mouthfeel: Medium body. Dry finish. Good consistency.

Drinkablity: Very well crafted all-malt beer. Deserves a place alongside the world's great beers.
