Blue Sushi in Omaha had these on special for $1 so I figured I couldn't go wrong. I guess you get what you pay for though. I have never really looked into Japanese beer before so I was excited to give this one a try. Turns out it is pretty much the Japanese equivalent to an American Macro Brew. This beer had no smell to it whatsoever and tasted pretty much the same. I can't complain to much for a buck, but I won't ever be drinking this one again.

This beer is a pale gold that has some brightness, and it has absolute clarity in its body. It grows more of a film than a head but a thick one, and that recedes to a wisp and some edging that does manage light spotting.
It's somewhat vegetal but not sloppily so with grains that, while prominent, don't domineer or go that oddly astringent direction that some beers can take. There's a bit of bright, fairly sweet citrus and a kiss of something floral. All in all, for a style that certainly seems like a weaker one, this holds down as average.
The body is light and goes semi-dry only toward the finish. It's quite crisp all the way, and more than moderately clean. It's got a bit of smoothness to it as well. Alcohol surprises with some unexpected heat partway through.

Presentation: Big old 22oz silver sculpted can -- I love these things. Batch number, no freshess date.

Appearance: Pale yellow liquid with a very lively carbonation level. This forms a thin white lace that remains consistent for most of the brew.

Smell: Rather clean in its aroma with faint grain and floral hops.

Taste: Crisp and refreshing. Body is light, mouthfeel is a bit creamy due to the carbonation. Immediately there's a wonderful lemon/lime hop bitterness and mild sharpness that flushes and wakes the palate, its flavour lingers for a bit, then contributes a small dose of dryness on the palate. Malt flavours are very light with a balancing sweetness that is spot on for this type of brew. As the beer warms, malt flavours become more pronounced but I recommend drinking this beer cold. Finishes with faint residuals of both hop and malt characters.

Notes: This is the same beer that is sold in 12 and 16oz sizes, however we have to give the can it's due respect. Hands down, this brew is at the top of the list for some of the better mainstream lagers imported into the US. Goes extremely well with Asian dishes, working as an ideal palate cleanser.

Tried this at a Thai place that was out of Tsingtao. Not a bad beer. I think I preferred this greatly over Asahi.

Pours a hugely carbonated pale yellow that is transparent. Nothing really exciting about it. Not a lot of nose, a little citrus but mostly a clean aroma (probably because of the rice).

Tasted good and clean, a little sweet and a little citrus. Very refreshing, especially when drank with a sticky hot Thai dish (I had this with my shrimp coconut soup and red curried duck).

Lots of fizz in the mouth from the extreme carbonation. I kind of liked it.

Very drinkable, I could have had several but since we were just out for dinner I had to settle for two.

This beer is a mystery! But finally I got the urge to get this at my job, and take it home. Awesome beer! Nice gold color, sweet malt, foamy white head, decent lacing, floral or buttery taste that lingers, kind of waxy after taste, and very drinkable. This beer is one of the few that I have encountered better out of a can!
