Overpriced, and the beer is sometimes old.

I stop by here every once in a while since everywhere northeast of here closes at 8 on Monday through Wednesday. I usually don't do that very often because every time I stop in, I am reminded that I don't like the place.

Prices are high - Narragansett six packs are $7, while they are $5 a minute up the road at Super Discount, while PBR is $5 for six cans ($3.99 at Super D's, though it was $3.29 until recently). All of this six packs are $1-3 more expensive than Super D's and Black Rock. To the first person who reviewed this place, you can get Stout Trooper cheap than that at those other two places too.

Selection is decent, they stock most of the standard craft beer stuff, though it's nothing out of the ordinary. Limited and pricey selection of singles, and no cheap beer other than standard macrobrews - not a problem for most BA members, but you can't get a buzz for three bucks or less.

Don't expect the beer to be fresh - several times I picked up seasonals that were a year old and beer that was past its prime. Today was the first time I remember getting a fresh beer there.

Check out Super Discount and Black Rock instead of this place, they don't disappoint and this place does.

Premier wine and spirits is a great little gem in fairfield. It is a fairly new store located on the corner of Tunxis Hill Rd. And Old Stratfield, which was formerly a pet store. Upon entering, you are immediately greeted by a friendly staff who will always ask if you need help with anything. I have had the pleasure to meet the owner on a couple occassions and he is a very nice guy.

Now onto the beer selection. The store really tries hard to give beer people a nice variety to choose from. The cooler takes up the whole wall and has a decent selection to choose from am. craft (Dogfish, Rogue, Stone) to imports (Paulaner, Hacker-Pschorr, Theakston Old Peculiar) to local favorites (Olde Burnside, Hooker, Berkshire). Their selection of bombers is also quite impressive with domestic and craft favorites. They even had the infamous New England Imperial Stout Trooper at $14.99, which is the best price ive seen in town. Throughout the store you will find BeerAdvocate ratings and little descriptions on their beer, which is very helpful.

Overall, this is a pretty good store. It is conveniently located about 3 minutes off I-95 a block away from Stop&Shop. The store is very good in customer service and will happily stock your favorite beers on special request or deliver orders to your house if needed. I highly recommend anyone in the area to come check this new place out!

Edit: Forgot to mention the beer tastings! Every Friday night they do a beer tasting, usually something new they just got in. They do the tasting at a massive, custom made oak bar with stools to relax and chat with the staff. The tasting is always free and diverse.
