Re-reviewed since my last review was most likely old or slightly infected. Since that review the other ones I've had from them were much better, so time for a re-review. Botted on 4/07/14 so pretty fresh.

Pours a nice fluffy fizzy 1 finger head that fades at a med pace, decent soapy lacing, hazy reddish orange color, already much different, although appearance is lower I have a feeling the rest will be much higher.

Nose nice citrus hops, some orange zest, tangerine, little candied orange peel, clementine, a light nectarine and stone fruit notes, touch of a papaya like tropical note, and some toasty reddish malts, a little candy brownish malts too, touch of caramel, bit of grapefruit later.

Taste starts with more citrus and fresh fruit, a little fresh grapefruit flesh, orange flesh, little juicy tangerine and nectarine, more fleshy than juicy, like fresh blended fruit. Into candied orange rind and a touch of pith, with some semi sweet malts, a little toasty reddish malt and caramel, but just enough to balance it. and an abrasive fluffy feel, little fluffy malt as well. Bitterness is fair to start, a little rindy, and increases on the back end. Finish gets a bit spicy, hops ramp up as it attempts to dry but the big malt sweetness keeps it from that. A hint of booze comes through with that, spicy earthy rind like bitterness dominates for a while after, and quite bitter at that point, almost like chewing on hop pellets dry.

Mouth is med to a bit fuller bod, feels a bit thick and abrasive too, with plenty of carbonation, note quite too much yet but almost there.

overall better than the first one i had, but not by a lot. I suppose the old bottle was just old and fermented a bit too much in the bottle, lost some of the hop bite, etc. Still the same beer which is why it's not worlds better, a decent IIPA, nothing out of this world, but enjoyable.

(Now the old review)
Pours a nice fluffy almost 2 finger head that fades fairly slowly, nice lacing, hazy tangerine orange color lots of bubbles rising up. 4.5

Nose has a big candy malt base, caramel, toffee, sweet amber reddish malts, light bready yeasty, sweet syrupy, light citrus hops, little spicy earthy hops, quite fruity and a big spicy hop bitterness waiting for me. 4

Taste starts with more malts, sweet candy malts, caramel, toffee, bready malts and bready yeast that gets a little off flavor tasting and unhappy yeast that I can't label, maybe too hot in fermentation, or possibly the early onset of infection. Then hops, quite bitter as it ramps, light citrus, quite spicy and earthy, some pine, chewy hops even, light candy hops too. Finish is still fairly sweet but drier, a lingering long bitterness and earthy spicy hops, and an anesthetized hot booze lingering, and just a touch of that unhappy yeast or possible infection offset. 3.5

Mouth is med to fuller bodied, some warming semi hot booze late, good carb. 4

Overall interesting, but not great, decent hops that don't really excite. Malts are nice balance to the heat and big bitter earthy spicy hops, but also either bad yeast or possible infection. 3 (3,105 characters)

I look at the ratings of this beer and I'm very surprised. I think this beer is exceptional. Drank a month out from bottling and in MA, so maybe I'm benefiting from the freshness. The beer smells and tastes awesome. Very good carbonation, with lots of citrus up front and a sweet aftertaste. Really good brew. (310 characters)

This beers smells amazing. Taste isn't quite as good as it smells but still very good. Would be a higher rating but it just kept foaming out of the bottle. I didn't drop it or anything so weird. Could only take 2-3 sips, all I was getting was foam. Decent tasting foam though. (276 characters)

Slightly hazed, orangey apricot with a light beige head that slowly recedes. Low aroma of floral hops, a little perfumey.

Flavor of toffee malt upfront, followed by grapefruit citrus hops, tastes like centennial. Morphs quickly to pine, and bitter orange rind. Fairly bitter, but this tastes like a single IPA, not a double IPA. Not overly complex, thin mouthfeel, this is just above average overall. (401 characters)

From the 650 ml. bottle dated April 7, 2014. Sampled on May 26, 2014.

The pour is a slight hazy copper orange amber with a long lasting white foamy head that lingers on.

The aroma has a decent dose of floral and piney hops that emit a grapefruit-like character. The toasted malts figure into the aroma a little bit too.

The body is around medium and fairly smooth.

The taste has plenty of resiny hops on my tongue but not to the point of exploding in my face. Malt character can also be tasted. This is a well-balanced Imperial IPA that still emphasizes the hops with a dry bitter finale. (593 characters)

Poured into a Haw River Farmhouse Ales teku glass. Notches indicate that it was bottled in March 2015.

A- Pours a hazy medium amber color with a 1/2 inch off-white fluffy head that retains well before becoming a thick ring around the edge of the glass and a large center patch of sheer surface foam. Semi-resilient slivers of lacing.

S- Very fruity hop aroma brings to mind orange and potpourri spice. Also a bit grassy with a slight booze fume.

T- Taste follows suit with some peach, mango and melon notes with a restrained bitterness. Very easy to drink for the ABV. The fruit complexity continues with grapefruit rind and apricot.

M- Somewhat dry with medium carbonation and a body leaning toward the lighter side.

O- This IPA is pretty much all citrus rind which is nice if you're looking for a hoppy beer that focuses more on the fruity aspects, isn't heavy on the bitterness and also isn't too sweet. First I've had from this brewer and I'm impressed. (968 characters)
