A: Reddish brown in color. Stiff pour yielded no head (baffling). Little to no carbonation. No date on the can, but I bought it at the LBCO last week. This is a prime example of why breweries should always put dates on their products (unless I just got a bad can).

S: Heavy on the rye and caramel malts. Not detecting any hops.

T: Lots of rye and caramel malt, just like the nose would suggest. Some spice from the rye. Very one dimensional.

M: A bit thin / watery and slight burn from the alcohol on the finish. The extremely low carbonation hurts the mouth feel significantly.

O: This was one of the few craft beers I could find in thunder bay. Unfortunately, it was rather forgettable.

A: Hazy copper with some carbonation, 2 fingers of creamy beige head. Good lacing.

S: Malty, orange, a little pine.

T: Heavy on the pine, hot pepper, malt back bone, dry orange citrus taste, white grapefruit bitterness, doughy malt comes in again. Light fruitiness.

M: Medium, somewhat resinous body, medium carbonation, dry finish.

O: Really delicious rye beer. I really like this one, and it stands up to the name. Very much one I would have when in the mood. Dry and somewhat warming, would be best in the Fall when this is supposedly released. However I got it in spring, so I am glad it was still around to grab this year.

Pours dark orange bordering on brown. The big, rocky head recedes in short order but musters up plenty of foam patches on the glass. Sweet fruitiness, piney, eucalyptus hops and toffee in the nose. Moderate hops up front in the taste quickly get taken over by bready, mollasses maltiness and a subtle spicy rye character. Some banana and phenolic yeast flavor in the back. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with a near creamy, active carbonation. Light bitterness and some herbal, spicyness in the shortish finish.

A nice Rye Pale Ale. Could have a bit more rye and hop character, but worth trying.

Purchased at the LCBO for $2.85 473ml can. Served at 5deg C in a draught glass

A- Very good. Pours nicely with a good 2" head that thins to a film within a minute or two, as expected from an IPA. Unusually brown, must be the rye.

S- Pretty good. Hint of coriander.

T- Very good. Touch bitter as expected again from an IPA.

M- Dry and tart. Enough said

O- Very good. Will buy again. A bit on the heavy side but very good.

Food Pairing

This nice example of an IPA went well with... Chicken balls and fried rice.

Enjoy

473ml can poured into a pint glass. ABV 6.1%.

A - Poured a hazy copper with an thick off white foamy head. Head reduced to a thin cap and lots of lacing.

S - Grains, rye, floral, some citrus.

T - Some caramel, rye bread, citrus, bitter finish.

M - Medium-heavy body, medium-heavy carbonation, slick, sticky resin, zesty finish.

O - Another rye beer meets IPA concoction. Not as good as Cameron's Rye Pale Ale but a decent beer none the less.
