A good heavy pours produces a large head, which disappears completely. vigorous swirling fails to produce much. The beer is a nice rustic red, a bit turbid.

Aroma has slight hints of cherry and red apple. Some sourness. A few spices here and there

While the flavor isn't bad, it just isn't full. Thin cherry and sweet bread. Lackluster flavor for an awesome label! Is this aged in barrels? I got nothing from barrels

A dry finish with some sourness...perhaps more tart than sour, though

Pours a dirty red with an off white head. Aroma is sweet & sour; caramel, bready, candy, a touch roasty, and a little funk. Flavor follows suit, with a bit more mouth puckering sourness than I expected from the aroma. A crisp, active mouthfeel. Overall, another great beer from TRVE.

batch two just launched of this sour red, this time in bourbon barrels. pours more pink than red, flat looking too, basically no head on it, some haze. the nose is real sour, tart lactic acidity and brett too, and the bourbon barrel influence is enormous. i get some char along with some tart cherry too. the flavor starts out with a huge dose of sourness, insane really, jawline intensity, but it mellows towards the finish. i think the malt bill and flavor may be a bit light. it doesnt quite come across as a red ale, but more of an under flavored pale as far as grain is concerned. the wild yeasts and bugs that ferment this thing are its real assets. so sour,so dry, long mouth watering fruity finish mellowed by oak. its really nice in that regard. it could use a little more carbonation and body, but i like how different it is from everything else thats out there. definitely no a flanders red type, a whole new take on this style. not my favorite of the trve sours, but certainly another great one.
