Pours an inviting deep brown with a nice brown head. Aroma was roasty with some bakers chocolate. Flavor was roasty, bakers chocolate, with a nicely mild bitter finish. A fuller, creamy mouthfeel. Overall, a solid american stout. Not going to blow you away but good enough to have you keep coming back for seconds.

On tap at the brewery. This was the best beer I tasted at TRVE and is probably worth going back for more. Typical black appearance. Aroma was deep roasty stout, thick and inviting I hoped that the flavor would follow suit. It did!. This was a really solid stout and something I would actually buy were it packaged.

On tap at the brewery and definitely my favorite. Pours a deep black/brown with a muddy brown, thick head. Par for the course deep roast flavors, pleasantly full/creamy mouthfeel without sticking to your palate and a clean hop finish. I'm still not sure how you're supposed to pronounce the name, but I love the beer and the brewery.

Served On-Tap

A — Pours a dark rich looking near black hue into the glass, there is a dark brown head on top that leaves behind some consistent rings of lace with each sip.

S — Smell is focused on dark roasted malts and grains, with notes of chocolate, coffee, bitter espresso, dark almost burnt but not quite. Nice balance of aromas.

T — Taste is like the nose, notes of roasted malts and chocolate, bitter coffee, roasted malts to their fullest.

M — Medium bodied, offering a lingering and fulfilling finish.

O — Very nice overall, a nice dark offering from a nice dark brewery.

this is one of the original and classics at trve, and its a really good stout. it suits the theme of the place, dark art, heavy music, dim light, that kind of thing, its metal as beers go, thats for sure. heavy and black in color, looks like sludgy coffee, with a dark tan head on top about half an inch high but permanently there. huge dark roasty notes come from this, with a lot of burnt ashy woody notes, faint espresso, and bitter dark chocolate. there is almost no sweetness to the middle, like so many have. no caramel or biscuit middle, no crystal malt driving the center, its all about the dark. they do get a ton of body in here, so i am wondering about the addition of some oats or something, its also impeccably smooth for how dense it is. really tasty beer, with all of the dark elements swirling around together and flashing in and out at different points of the flavor journey, its anything but static, and i like that a lot. creamy almost on the feel, i could see this doing really well in a whiskey barrel too for added depth. there is a reason this has remained on the draft board pretty much since the opened.
