I'm on the fence as to exactly what I think of this place. The Pourhouse is a nice place, long and almost narrow restaurant with brick walls. The front half of the restaurant is all tables and booths, with the bar itself being about halfway down the room.

The atmosphere is somewhat trendy, but relaxed. The decor and style of the place somehow reminded me of the faux refurbished warehouse motif you see in a lot of bars and brewpubs in Portland, Oregon.

The menu is just on the decent side of average with the usual burgers, dogs, mac 'n' cheese you see on most menus. There are however, a couple interesting choices in the entrees if you're in the mood for chicken or fish. And, menu aside, the food is tasty. Word of warning though, don't go to the Pourhouse looking for fries. They don't have a deep fryer on the premises and as such don't have the yam fries or chilli fries that are popular at other places.

Service was awesome. Waitress was attentive, helpful, prompt and really nice, especially since our group was taking forever to make decisions.

One big negative for me regarding the Pourhouse. As a beer lover, I expect to see something good available when you have as many bottled beers for sale as they do. Some good Anchor beers, some Old Rasputin, something from Fullers or Samuel Smith. Rather, the craft brews available at the Pourhouse are consistently, depressingly average. Not a lot of anything with any great character to it.

So for me, The Pourhouse would be a good place to stop for lunch while shopping Whyte ave., but not a place to stop for a drink.
