Caveat: this is my first Wit. I do not have a Belgian native beer to compare this to. Nonetheless...
Pour was 14oz in a Nonic shaped glass (certainly not a pint ...) at Draft Republic, San Diego. Color was a straw yellow with a uniform haze, no floaties, and a short white head. Aroma was immediately of spice and bread, perhaps some dried apricot, maybe more a marmalade (I don't eat marmalade, so...). Taste gave the spice up front, mainly clove perhaps some corriander. Across the palate the bread took over with some of the bright dried fruit (again, apricot?). Finish was a light yeast with a sweet citrus linger. Mouthfeel was medium bodied, but a tight, light carbonation. Note state this style usually is got some pop to the carbonation, this did not. Tap? Travel from TJ? Not sure.
This seemed to round out a Tijuana themed day: watched the replay of the Xolos beating Club America (with the recently departed Benedetto wearing yellow, not red...) and then this brew at dinner. Que Bueno.

picked up from palm springs liquor in La Mesa, CA; first experience with Insurgente
22oz bottle poured into a Sierra Nevada imperial pint glass
p- clear gold; 1f white head; quick recession
n- very soft; wheat malt sweetness and apricot
t- very subtle profile; bland crackery malt w/ a light wheat sweetness, citrus that's barely noticeable, and a bit of soapiness in the finish; lackluster, with an element of staleness about it
mf- light-med bodied; med carb; on the watery side w/ a sticky wheat finish
o- was hoping for more from this beer, especially after reading good things about the brewery; wouldn't have this offering again

Average wit with a mild dash of spice and some fruit notes. Nothing to write home about.

Pours a clear gold color. 1/5 inch head of an off-white color. Slight retention and poor lacing. Smells of vanilla, slight sweet malt, slight citrus, hint of pale malt, tea, and slight floral notes. Fits the style of a Witbier. Mouth feel is smooth and clean, with an average carbonation level. Tastes of vanilla, slight sweet malt, slight citrus, hint of pale malt, tea, and slight floral notes. Overall, weak appearance, but pleasing tea and floral notes (they dominate). A light and refreshing twist on the classic Witbier.

Served in a nonic pint, it pours a pale yellow, slightly hazy, with a one-finger head, white and foamy, with low retention.
The bouquet is of wheat, orange and coriander, malty sweetness.
The flavor follows the nose. The wheat is dominant, and you also get some other fruit notes as in apricot and lime. Well balanced beer.
Watery mouthfeel, high carbonation.

Ambery golden color in the tall Kolsch glass. There's a modest foam that subsides into a low carbonation by the time you take a few sips. Sort of a tea taste, some gummy and bitter flavors, and just a hint of the coriander pencil shavings taste. This tastes a little like a Wit, but more like it was watered down.
Overall this is more like a flabby Blonde with an unexpected flavor. Then there's the unpleasant aftertaste, like really old spices from the back of the drawer. I"m hoping for something more interesting from the other side of the border. From the 22 oz bottle purchased for $6.49 at Bine & Vine in San Diego.

Bottled on: 8/12/15.
Pours a murky golden-orange with a foamy tan head that settles to wisps of film on top of the beer. Tiny dots of lace drip into the remaining beer on the drink down. Smell is of grain, earth, citrus fruitc, and spice aromas. Taste is much the same with grain, citrus juice, and slight spice flavors on the finish. There is a mild amount of spice bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is an average beer that is drinkable, but the aromas and flavors are quite subdued in my opinion.
Serving type: bottle.
