Clear light honey gold color. No capping of any kind really, just a thin collar around the edge. Hmmm...I sense malts as suspect to the inadequate foam, actually I can smell em. Label states this as a "Red Ale", and is suppose to be a wee heavy styled brew, so the color appearance is a bit of a mystery as to why its not reminiscent of what either of those would be.

Aroma is quite big at first, sweet and uninhibited with a watermelon jolly rancher-like waft with hints to cherry pie filling, pear, and bread dough. It does however fade to a lighter aroma as it sits to just some bread dough with light hints to some fruity alcoholic esters.

Taste is malty and smooth with very well adjusted character. Nothing quite stands out on its own here. Subtlity is the name of the game here. Doughy sweetness to start, toffee/caramel dry out into some rough tinges thereafter and into the finish. Tiny bits of cherry and pear hover along the back sides. Finishes slow and a bit empty as some doughyness returns as it gains a bold chewyness with fruity hints on a late trail of soothing warming traits.

Feel is smooth and silky with malts. Favors a medium body and low carbonation, making for a soothing ride of subtle malt chewyness thats rounded just enough to give it enough gumption in girth the entire time.

Damn drinkable too. A very easy going Red/ Scotch/Wee Heavy/ Bock beer/Ale? Whatever it is or isn't style wise, I liked it and that's all that matters when it comes down it. If I could find it cheaper it may find a regular rotating spot within my fridge.

Amber copper color with a one finger head with medium retention.
Malty aroma with floral hops. Hints of peat, but not that smoked.
Likewise, predominant sweet malty flavor finishing with a mild smoky peat. Hints of apples and earthy and herbal hops. Mildly dry and bitter aftertaste.
Light body with good carbonation.
Interesting malty beer with nice twist on using Whiskey malt, this by the way worked well. Assertive and not complex, which is nice so you can better isolate its particular malt? Worth trying.

A: Clear filtered, medium low carbonation, copper body, a little head fades fast and has a slight bronze tinge.

S: Very amber lager like- medium toasted malts, very light, no whiskey or the likes, just a light slight skunk, cedar scent, slight smoke. Malty, not so much hops. At first reminded me of New Albion, by Sam Adams.

T: Smooth, good body, definitely get the whiskey malt (not to be taken for barrel aged which this isn’t). A toned down version of a whiskey flavour without the wood aspect. It’s a very mild beer and I’m only getting alcohol lower down at the back of the tongue and below, though its only 5%. A bit of lemon and sheltzer water.

M: Medium bready body, medium low carbonation.

O: Saw this in Michael Jackson’s top 500 beers of the world, and, having the opportunity to buy this around my 40th birthday I decided to do so. At first glance, and based on the reading on the bottle “whiskey malt red beer” it makes me think of some American ambers, but this one is way more complex with the whiskey character. I understand the classification “Vienna Lager” but personally would not like it to be placed in that category. A malt whiskey beer, with a Scottish name Nessie, brewed in Austria, makes me think this one is a style in its own right. Reminds me of buying Nacho chips that are a European brand on the train in Sweden, or a Chinese version of western food at a high end restaurant in Toronto. Cool bottle, great concept.

Found it in Romania.

A - Whiskey to red cherry color, medium carbonation lasting few minutes, tiny white foam lasting few seconds.
S - Sweet malt with some fruits aroma.
T/M - Lighter taste for Red beers, almost as scotch and soda beer. 2 much carbonated, bitter aftertaste with some sweetness and some fruitiness.

O - Not so good, not so bad. Interesting because of whiskey malt, but overall, there is lots of better Red lagers.
