Ehhh, what to say about this one? I've been curious for a while, but have come to find it should have stayed as curiousness. It actually smells like boozy Austrian Malt Liquor, as the label suggests. Not a very appealing scent. I think it could be used as paint thinner.
Taste isn't much better. Tastes like grapes doused in some sort of solvent. Lots of sugar and caramel. If I didn't know any better, I would say this is 18%. What are the redeeming qualities of this beer for people who are rating this A's and B's? I can't figure it out. After a few sips, its just kind of intimidating looking at the syrupy sludge sitting in my glass.
Even the bubbles seem scared, trapped against the glass. It might be better to take shots of. I'm sure I could offer this as shots to friends and they wouldn't even know better. This is not a Doppelbock. I don't care what anyone says. Try at your own discretion.

Fresh bottle, only a couple of months old
A- Pours clear and copper color with a very small fizzy head that disappears quickly, leaving nothing behind
S- big sweet malty aromas with notes of fresh bread, fruit cake, caramel, toffee, alcohol and dark cherries
T- very sweet caramel malt up front with a big hit of sweet brown sugar. sweet bread with some fruity notes mixed in, continuing into a sweet finish
M- thick and viscous body with low carbonation, foamy mouthfeel with a smooth finish, big alcohol warmth at the end
O- super sweet and definitely a sipper, but the sweetness does not overpower. Great sweet bread flavors that one would expect from a doppelbock. I'd love to get another bottle to see what some age does for it, but it drinks just fine fresh
