Bottled in 2004
Pours an effervescent copper/orange with a 1 finger deep head. No lacing or head retention, what a suprise!
S: Intense sweetness & syruppy (maple & praline)& a hint of alcohol
T: Caramel, pecan & bourbon up front with some alcohol burn present from the get go. Rich caramel & a hint of smokeyness follows. Finishes with a butterscotch/alcohol twang
MF: Super thick with a hint of carbonation. Impossible to define balance with a bier like this IMO
Drinks pretty easy considering the abv. I can discern no difference between this & the hurliman version from back in the day when this was THE strongest bier in the world. Got to try just for the sake of repsecting the extemism. The original triplebock !

Fresh bottle, only a couple of months old
A- Pours clear and copper color with a very small fizzy head that disappears quickly, leaving nothing behind
S- big sweet malty aromas with notes of fresh bread, fruit cake, caramel, toffee, alcohol and dark cherries
T- very sweet caramel malt up front with a big hit of sweet brown sugar. sweet bread with some fruity notes mixed in, continuing into a sweet finish
M- thick and viscous body with low carbonation, foamy mouthfeel with a smooth finish, big alcohol warmth at the end
O- super sweet and definitely a sipper, but the sweetness does not overpower. Great sweet bread flavors that one would expect from a doppelbock. I'd love to get another bottle to see what some age does for it, but it drinks just fine fresh
