330mL bottle into my hardywood tulip.

A: very clear, very bright golden body. bright white bubbly head. retention is good while the lacing is not so much.

S: so used to american versions of german pils makes this one seem tame. aroma is hoppy, but much more minor than american interpretations. white bread. a little bit of skunk.

T: at first you can taste a slight skunkyness, but it really doesnt last long. a little bit of cornyness, reminds me a little of a corn tortilla chip. bready even, saltine crackers. finish is very dry.

M: vibrant carbonation on a light body.

D: once you get past the light-struck, it is still a pretty average german pils. i think the coolest thing is the cap with the pull-off ring.

On 28th Nov 13 I had a little Lager/Pilsner session: this 330ml green, rip-top bottle was my third one.

Pale golden in colour it showed bright, clean and clear: the snow white head even stayed and gave some lacing on my 'La Chouffe' tulip that I'd poured it into, very un-lager/pilsner like.

Both the nose and taste were leaning towards a sweet feel and grainy. The hop content gave it a crisp texture and added a bite to the brew.

I thought this was OK, a lot better than the two different Beck's offerings I'd had before anyway.

12 oz. bottle purchased in the greater Washington D.C. area, unknown bottling data and poured into my FFF glass, drank 11/16/13 over a half-hour.

A: 2/3 - straw yellow coloration, solid clarity (can read or see through), received with little head with very subtle glass lacing; moderate carbonation; no alcohol legs

S: 7/12 - classic German pilsner flavors...lemon zest, spice, lager yeast...there it is and not much else that I can detect

T: 14/20 - classic German pils flavors hit - mild noble hop aroma, lager yeast; settles into a moderate biscuity/bready character in the middle of the mouth and resolves quickly with little-to-no aftertatste, no alcohol detectable in the taste

M: 3/5 - light-bodied and high carbonation, little alcohol presence in the body

O: 6/10 - bleh, bland German pilsner; don't see the appeal

TOTAL = 32/50

Coming in a 500ml can, BB 11/2013, served moderately chilled in a straight imperial pint glass.

Appearance: pours a very pale straw colour, coming with a very tight and thick white foamy head which lasts particularly well, sitting on top of lively flows of tiny bubbles.
Smell: lightly astringent plastic/dusty notes precede faint lemony acidity, sweet-floral hops and clean grainy malts. Very text-book like. A few good swirls give rise to a faintly apple-ish aroma in support of the lemony acidity.
Taste: clean on the palate, only mildly carbonated, the foretaste is neutral, followed by mild grainy malts and a mildly floral hint of hops, while the random touches of restrained acidity suit a well-lagered pilsner just well, leaving behind restrained but still noticeable bitterness and a sufficiently dry palate. Again, text-book like.
Mouthfeel & Overall: the mouthfeel remains refreshing without being really fizzy, the body is medium-minus for its 5.1%abv. alc. content, all in all this is a dull but decently crafted take on the beer style… if only it could be drier and more bitter…

Light golden color with a two finger head that has a short to medium retention but that leaves good laces.
Predominant strong aroma of Saaz hops.
Sweet biscuit malty taste, again with a good deal of Saaz hops, strong on grassy and floral notes. Dry and not as bitter as you would expect, its relatively massive hops are likely low on alpha acids.
Light body with a perfect carbonation.
I really like this pilsner. One of a few that I can easily identify on a blind test. Not boring as usual. I think this is usually underrated. Love the predominant Saaz that goes well with its malty base, while still keeping a high drinkability.
