Visited twice, once for breakfast and once for dinner. Had beers on tap both times, and beers in bottles one of the times.

Staff was maybe a bit less friendly than some small places, which is understandable as they often deal with huge crowds of rowdy foreigners.

Way more beers available than most of the other bierhalls (like, 8 as opposed to 2-4). Beer is high quality, tasty, and some of it is creative.

Weisswurst for breakfast one day, schweinhaxe for dinner another, both were great. This place was one of the better visits throughout our four days in Munich, both on the food and and the beer side.

Would recommend.

Visited with my wife on a recent trip to Brussels and Munich.

Tried the following:
Schneider Weisse Weizen Hell (draft)
Bräu Girgl Altbairisch Dunkel (draft)
Schneider Weisse Festweisse Weissbier (bottle)

Beers ranged from very good to outstanding. Tap list was more varied than I expected; some guest bottles available. Also liked that you could get most beers in half pints (300ml). Had a lovely meal here and my wife enjoyed her rosé. Traditional beer hall atmosphere; quite busy at dinner time. Service was competent as food arrived promptly and our glasses were always full. Our overall experience was superlative, and we would certainly come back.

In Munich's Tal 7 stands the most traditional and interesting "Wirtshaus" in Bavaria. Roughly translated, a "Wirtshaus" is partly a bar and partly a restaurant. It's an institution and an essential part of any beer lover's visit to Munich. When foreigners enter, they believe they are simply in a restaurant. They slowly figure out that it's strictly seat yourself, and that if you actually want to eat or drink you going to have to sit at common table with others. Even if they figure all this out and actually manage to order food and drink, most will leave without even grasping where it is they have been. Maybe it's the language or maybe it's the culture that is the barrier. Perhaps both.

The beer is the main attraction and the focus is on the Weissbier. The George Schneider and Sons brewery has been in business since 1872 & is currently in the 6th generation - all the proprietors using the name George.

Schneider Weisse Tap 7 Unser Original: Starting with George Schneider I, George Schneider VI is now in control of this family run brewery in Kelheim. Still brewed according to the original recipe from 1872, this is a darker colored Weissbier. It's rich, dark amber color has just a wisp of banana and is more associated with its clove aroma. It's a fully bodied beer with sweet, dark bread flavored malt and lingering wheat flavors with light touch of lemon and banana at the finish. Alcohol: 5.4 %.

Schneider Aventinus Tap 6: Aventinus is the quintessential Weizen Bock (Strong Hefe-Weizen). It's dark brown in color with a ruby red tinge and offers an aromatic hint of ripe banana, dried rasins, and plums which plays off its licorice and roast malt profile. It's well balanced nature and rich flavors hide it's true alcohol content, so be careful! Alcohol: 8.2%.

If you still have anything left in the tank, you can try the Eisbock - a super strong version of the Aventinus whereby the mash is frozen, forming ice crystals that can be removed from the beer, driving up the the alcohol level. Then I would go for the aforementioned Hopfenweisse - but only if you can sleep in the next day!

Additionally, Schneider offers a great alcohol free version, and a light version with1/2 the alcohol of an original. Further you can try a "blond" Weissbier, or the "green" one which recreates Schneider's version of an Oktoberfest style beer. If you don't like the yeast, you can also get a filtered version called "Kristall Weizen." If for some incomprehensible reason you don't like Weissbier, you can order a Helles from the Tegernseer brewery, or various soda's produced by Schneider und Söhne. Also, a Rotling or a Silvaner wine would be worthwhile.

Beer Etiquette:
• Wait until everyone has a beverage before you take a sip
• Raise your glass and say "Prost!"
• Leading with bottom of your glass (the rim is much to delicate!), look into each persons eyes as you clink glasses. Failure to do so results in 7 years of bad sex.
• Be sure never to reach over or under other's extended arms. This is a bad omen and all too often results in a broken glass and spilled beer
• Never fail to take a sip after you clink glasses. Failure to drink after saying Prost will be taken as an insult.
• Never play with your cellphone while sitting with others - this is rude behavior and tells your tablemates that they are boring. If you really need to do something, first excuse yourself from the table.
• If you are with others at the table, tick marks are often made on your coaster so you don't screw the others at your table. It is hard to keep track of how many you had!
• The Pretzels are not free. If you touch it, you take it. Don't ever put a half of a pretzel back in the basket.

The kitchen at the Weisses Brauhaus shows continual improvement. Under the leadership of Sepp Nagler, they continue to offer old Bavarian specialties from the "Kronfleischküche." Granted that this isn't everyone's cup of tea, but it's reassuring that these old recipes continued to be on offer at the Weisses Brauhaus. On the regular menu, Bavarian dishes dominate, but often are given a slight modern twist. My favorites are the Zwiebelrostbraten and the Kaiserschmarrn, but you can't go astray with any of the items.

If you decide to visit, it's important that you take your time and enjoy the evening. If you have any luck at all, you'll somehow converse with your table mates and have an entertaining and enlightening conversation. The Weisses Bräuhaus is an institution that must be savored!

Best beer selection in Munich in my opinion, loved getting to try the full gamut of Schneider & Sohn brews, so damn tasty. The food was good too, had the peasants feast. Really enjoyed Tap 5 hopfenweisse. Unique combination of hoppy and wheat. Eisbock was great too.

Went here on Sunday, July 26, after a long wait to get to old town in Munich. The place is spectacular, right in the south-eastern side of old town, pretty close to the Hofbrauhaus. We opted for an outside table since it was so nice out that day. Service was actually pretty good for a German place, and they had English menus. Food was great, I had the butcher's platter which was 5 different sausages. They have pretty much every available Schneider-Weisse beer here except for the really odd stuff like Cuvee Barrique and Mein Nelson Sauvin. Basically, all the "Tap _" beers are here. Would STRONGLY recommend going here.

Visited a couple years back, stumbled on it online and thought I should review it. My mouth is watering just thinking about the Tap 5 and meal(s) I had there while in Munich.

Incredibly easy to find but almost always crowded (more locals than tourists). Keep that in mind and hopefully you get a seat.

Beer selection is great as Schneider is one of my favorites in Munich because of the variety. Super fresh beers, nice glassware to match them, service is typical German (simple and effective, if you need something, ask!)

The only thing I was dissapointed with is the fact that they don't offer the special Schneider offerings : Meine Nelson Sauvin for example. Those big fancy bottles of the "rare/now BA" stuff seem to mainly be for export as I have seen them in France, Belgium, and the US.

If in Munich, it is a must visit.

I am a big fan of their beers so for me this is a must. I recommend to any fan of German beer.
Has all there beers available. Also a nice selection of German food. But be warned every night we visited is was very busy and you may need to wait outside for few minutes. We had to on our visits. But worth the short wait and the price is very fair for what you get.

Some of my favorite beers are here so it was pretty much a pilgrimage to go to this place in Munich. So nice to sit outside and watch the people while drinking one of my favorite beers of all time. Typical slow paced bavarian atmosphere. Nice selection for this type of place although I stuck to their original and my favorite. We ordered some plates of food just as a snack and ended up with a feast! Great value.

I learned a lot during my first few hours in Munich, but most notably was how early Germans started their beer drinking. After getting my feet wet in the city (literally and figuratively) for a few hours, it was time to grab a beer. There are a couple enterences into the restaurant; sit yourself down anywhere there's an empty chair. Even before 10am, there were a lot of people inside eating and drinking, and it helped give the place and uplifting feeling.

Wooden chairs and tables around the restaurant, and there are several different rooms. The kitchen and bar sit in the middle of it, as I sat just a throw from it, along a long wooden high table. A moment later I received a special English menu to look at what beers and what food was available. I smiled; 7 different beers on-tap, from the classic Schneider Weiss, the strong Aventinus (my personal favorite), and even two guest lagers, and an addition four from the bottle. Not only was the beer very good, but the matching glassware added beauty as well. Most 300 ml pours went for €3.00, which helped my wallet as I planned to sample several beers.

Lets not forget about the food. 2 Weisswursts and a pretzel for breakfast...oh dear...I'm in love. After that moment, I had a feeling that I was going to love Munich (and I did).

Variety, quality beer, great food, and atmosphere; Weisses Brauhaus brings those characters to a level which very few in Munich can match. This is one to experience.

The Weiss Brauhaus is a great place to grab a Schneider Weiss and a pretzel while walking around the Old City in Munich. The decor is very "German" and the food is pretty good. Like everwhere else in Munich, service is slow (coming from a New Yorker) but it doesn't matter because the beers are big and the need for refills are not often

While in Munich I made a point to visit this place several times. Scneider Weisse Tap 1 mein Blonde proved to be my favorite beer in all of Munich and this place has plenty of them.

Exploring Munich on foot, I stumbled across Weisses Brauhaus and thoroughly enjoyed my visit. The place was full and I was able to get a table upstairs. The atmospehere was casual and comfortable. Service was outstanding and the menu and beer selection were excellent. I had the wiener schnitzel with a Schneider Kristall for starters followed by an Aventinus which was amazing. This was not a tourist destination and that made it quaint and genuine. Walking distance from Marienplatz made it very accessible. Across the street from Paulaner and around the corner from Ayinger, Augustiner and Hofbrauhaus. Went to each of them and enjoyed every one of them. Weisses was a highlight for me.

Stopped here on good Friday, the place was still nearly full. I tried going the Friday before and it was so packed we couldn't even sit.

It has a pretty good selection of beers including just about every Schneider beer and about 5 or 6 guest beers.

I tried the Kristal, Blonde, and Eisbock. They were all good. The service was also good. The wurst I had was good though pricey.

All in all this is a great destination just to the east of Marienplatz, it is easy to find right across from McDonald's and Burger King.

I stopped in here on my oktoberfest brewery tour last week in munich.

The location is great as its located right outside the Marienplatz on the corner of 3 streets. There is some nice outside seating, though inside you have the traditional baviarian restaurant/bar theme going on with nice long tables, a few hightops by the bar, and a nice backroom that was great for dinner. I had the Aventinus from the bottle and was given the appropriate glasswares. The bottle looked a little different than what we get in the states but the beer was the same, maybe a bit fresher. Service was typical for munich, with little to no interaction between the waitors and the patrons. The price was about 4 euros per beer depending and they had the whole schneider line up (original, aventinus, eisbock) as well as a few draft lines. Great place to stop in and relax with a weisse beer or two, and really a nice atmosphere to be in.

my brothers and i spent last week in munich; two nights were spent here at this joint. the atmosphere here is nice and traditional, with plenty of seating. the first night we went we met some german dudes who we friendly; the server, however, was not. we never saw a menu, as we were there for the beer, so i had no idea what they had as far as selection. we just went with big mugs of original weisse. the second night, we found the english menu, and i'll be damned if they didn't have the best selection of munich's beer halls. they even had hopfen-weisse, which was infinitely better than it was when i first had it in the states. it was fresh, pungent and delicious. after all the helles, dunkles & hefes we'd been drinking, it was awesome to get my hop fix. the server again was very surly, but after we befriended an older local sitting at our table who was a regular, she warmed up to us. he told us most of the servers are like that. the food was also really good. overall, with the exception of the servers, this was a great place to visit, and our favorite of the trip.

I have been there a couple of times at different times of the year and day and the atmosphere is obviously different at midday (when it is packed) than at night when many people have moved on to bars and clubs.

I f you are lucky to get a seat in the great hall downstairs it is quite a good atmosphere but the rest of the building is like a maze.

The main selling point is the selection of beers including 3 of my all time favourites (Aventinus, Aventinus Eisbock and Hopfenweisse)

Also there are the standard choices and an interesting strong Hefeweizen(6.00%) called "Mein Gruenes" which has higher ABV and more hops than usual - another must try.

The food is hearty and OK.

Our first day in Munich for Oktoberfest, and we wanted to stop somewhere for a drink before dinner. We just got off our overnight flight a few hours ago, so a wheat beer sounded good. First stop of the night: Weisses Brauhaus. Got a table outside since the weather was so nice and the sun still up. Inside looked cool too, but let's enjoy the evening weather. Ordered up a few original hefes, served in 0.5l glasses. Wow, what a beer to start the trip off with! Amazing. Tasted so much better that any hefe I've had in the States. Tasted like it was brewed two hours ago. Might have been the best tasting beer of the trip. There were a few other beers offered, but I wanted the flagship brew. Our waitress was good at first, but then disappeared, and the other waitress wouldn't help us because we weren't her table. Annoying. But, just the beer alone makes this place a must visit.

A friend and I came here on the recommendation of a fellow BA. It was worth the trip, and the wait to get in.

Weisses is huge. I don't think I ever quite found my way all the way to back of the restaurant. Plus, there's even more seating upstairs, and a patio (with no umbrellas for some reason) out front. Finding a place to sit is simply a matter of looking for a spare seat and asking if you can share a table with someone. It's really quite the social environment.

We were in Munich for Oktoberfest, so the place was packed. Understandably, service was slow at first, but once our waitress got to us, things went pretty quick. The menus (in German) are at the tables to give you time to figure out what you want before the waitstaff gets to you. Because of the crowd, we didn't bother asking for the English version of the menu. Instead, we cobbled together our limited German to figure out what was what and played "point and shoot." I ended up ordering a very heavy roast pork dish that is probably still clogging my arteries, but tasted excellent. My friend grabbed a sausage plate that he said was quite tasty.

We didn't stick around long enough to try a bunch of beers. I had the Schneider Original, and was quite happy with it. If we'd had more time to linger, I would have tried others.

All in all, Weisses is a must see in Munich. I'm really glad I had the opportunity to visit.

I think this is my favorite in Munich (not counting beer gardens). There are a few beer halls I haven't tried yet (Augustiner, Spatenhaus and Der Pschorr), but other than that, this is a must see! Lots of locals who enjoy one of the different Weissbier types and eat great local food. They also stick to the tradition and serve Weisswuerstl only until noon! Very good service, great beer, outstanding food and super atmosphere. Not a tourist trap at all, especially compared to the Hofbrauhaus around the corner. Weisses is also around the corner from the "Bier- und Oktoberfestmuseum."
