The Weiss Brauhaus is a great place to grab a Schneider Weiss and a pretzel while walking around the Old City in Munich. The decor is very "German" and the food is pretty good. Like everwhere else in Munich, service is slow (coming from a New Yorker) but it doesn't matter because the beers are big and the need for refills are not often
While in Munich I made a point to visit this place several times. Scneider Weisse Tap 1 mein Blonde proved to be my favorite beer in all of Munich and this place has plenty of them.

Exploring Munich on foot, I stumbled across Weisses Brauhaus and thoroughly enjoyed my visit. The place was full and I was able to get a table upstairs. The atmospehere was casual and comfortable. Service was outstanding and the menu and beer selection were excellent. I had the wiener schnitzel with a Schneider Kristall for starters followed by an Aventinus which was amazing. This was not a tourist destination and that made it quaint and genuine. Walking distance from Marienplatz made it very accessible. Across the street from Paulaner and around the corner from Ayinger, Augustiner and Hofbrauhaus. Went to each of them and enjoyed every one of them. Weisses was a highlight for me.

Stopped here on good Friday, the place was still nearly full. I tried going the Friday before and it was so packed we couldn't even sit.
It has a pretty good selection of beers including just about every Schneider beer and about 5 or 6 guest beers.
I tried the Kristal, Blonde, and Eisbock. They were all good. The service was also good. The wurst I had was good though pricey.
All in all this is a great destination just to the east of Marienplatz, it is easy to find right across from McDonald's and Burger King.

I stopped in here on my oktoberfest brewery tour last week in munich.
The location is great as its located right outside the Marienplatz on the corner of 3 streets. There is some nice outside seating, though inside you have the traditional baviarian restaurant/bar theme going on with nice long tables, a few hightops by the bar, and a nice backroom that was great for dinner. I had the Aventinus from the bottle and was given the appropriate glasswares. The bottle looked a little different than what we get in the states but the beer was the same, maybe a bit fresher. Service was typical for munich, with little to no interaction between the waitors and the patrons. The price was about 4 euros per beer depending and they had the whole schneider line up (original, aventinus, eisbock) as well as a few draft lines. Great place to stop in and relax with a weisse beer or two, and really a nice atmosphere to be in.

my brothers and i spent last week in munich; two nights were spent here at this joint. the atmosphere here is nice and traditional, with plenty of seating. the first night we went we met some german dudes who we friendly; the server, however, was not. we never saw a menu, as we were there for the beer, so i had no idea what they had as far as selection. we just went with big mugs of original weisse. the second night, we found the english menu, and i'll be damned if they didn't have the best selection of munich's beer halls. they even had hopfen-weisse, which was infinitely better than it was when i first had it in the states. it was fresh, pungent and delicious. after all the helles, dunkles & hefes we'd been drinking, it was awesome to get my hop fix. the server again was very surly, but after we befriended an older local sitting at our table who was a regular, she warmed up to us. he told us most of the servers are like that. the food was also really good. overall, with the exception of the servers, this was a great place to visit, and our favorite of the trip.

I have been there a couple of times at different times of the year and day and the atmosphere is obviously different at midday (when it is packed) than at night when many people have moved on to bars and clubs.
I f you are lucky to get a seat in the great hall downstairs it is quite a good atmosphere but the rest of the building is like a maze.
The main selling point is the selection of beers including 3 of my all time favourites (Aventinus, Aventinus Eisbock and Hopfenweisse)
Also there are the standard choices and an interesting strong Hefeweizen(6.00%) called "Mein Gruenes" which has higher ABV and more hops than usual - another must try.
The food is hearty and OK.

Our first day in Munich for Oktoberfest, and we wanted to stop somewhere for a drink before dinner. We just got off our overnight flight a few hours ago, so a wheat beer sounded good. First stop of the night: Weisses Brauhaus. Got a table outside since the weather was so nice and the sun still up. Inside looked cool too, but let's enjoy the evening weather. Ordered up a few original hefes, served in 0.5l glasses. Wow, what a beer to start the trip off with! Amazing. Tasted so much better that any hefe I've had in the States. Tasted like it was brewed two hours ago. Might have been the best tasting beer of the trip. There were a few other beers offered, but I wanted the flagship brew. Our waitress was good at first, but then disappeared, and the other waitress wouldn't help us because we weren't her table. Annoying. But, just the beer alone makes this place a must visit.

A friend and I came here on the recommendation of a fellow BA. It was worth the trip, and the wait to get in.
Weisses is huge. I don't think I ever quite found my way all the way to back of the restaurant. Plus, there's even more seating upstairs, and a patio (with no umbrellas for some reason) out front. Finding a place to sit is simply a matter of looking for a spare seat and asking if you can share a table with someone. It's really quite the social environment.
We were in Munich for Oktoberfest, so the place was packed. Understandably, service was slow at first, but once our waitress got to us, things went pretty quick. The menus (in German) are at the tables to give you time to figure out what you want before the waitstaff gets to you. Because of the crowd, we didn't bother asking for the English version of the menu. Instead, we cobbled together our limited German to figure out what was what and played "point and shoot." I ended up ordering a very heavy roast pork dish that is probably still clogging my arteries, but tasted excellent. My friend grabbed a sausage plate that he said was quite tasty.
We didn't stick around long enough to try a bunch of beers. I had the Schneider Original, and was quite happy with it. If we'd had more time to linger, I would have tried others.
All in all, Weisses is a must see in Munich. I'm really glad I had the opportunity to visit.

I think this is my favorite in Munich (not counting beer gardens). There are a few beer halls I haven't tried yet (Augustiner, Spatenhaus and Der Pschorr), but other than that, this is a must see! Lots of locals who enjoy one of the different Weissbier types and eat great local food. They also stick to the tradition and serve Weisswuerstl only until noon! Very good service, great beer, outstanding food and super atmosphere. Not a tourist trap at all, especially compared to the Hofbrauhaus around the corner. Weisses is also around the corner from the "Bier- und Oktoberfestmuseum."

Easy to find location just off the main square. There are about 15 tables outside on the sidewalk, plenty inside(make sure you walk past the kitchen as theres a whole other area of tables).
Nice atmosphere, clean, open kitchen. Service is typical for the area and the servers arent keen on speaking English. There is an English menu so ask for it and order by number. They are older and surly so be as nice as possible. CASH ONLY
The pork knuckle was the best Ive had, ever. Perfectly moist and tender inside with a crisp skin. Potato pancakes were good. Salad with entree is great.
Had the Aventinus on tap both nights. Correct glassware and good pours. There were maybe 4 other wheat type beers on tap and a few more bottled.
This is a must stop in Munich.
