I found these at the Binny's store in Bloomingdale, IL for $2.99 each. 330ml brown bottles with a swing top cap and a freshness date stamped on the bottom of the back label.

The beer poured a cloudy golden yellow color and made a 1-finger white head that lasted a few minutes before settling to a thin white cap.. Lacing was minimal.

The beer smelled like a bowl of Wheaties with bananas on top. There was also a swweet buttery toffee aroma.

The beer was high in both wheat flavor and bananas but low on clove spiciness, although some clove was present. A sweet buttery toffee flavor was also present - like the center of a Heath bar. Hop bitterness was undetectable.

Light to medium body with medium carbonation.

This is a good hefewizen, but also a non typical one because of the toffee sweetness. I'd recommend it and gladly open a second one.

This sample was purchased in Berlin, Germany.

Comes in a cool looking 33cl mini-swing top brown bottle with a best before date stamped on the rear label.

Classic weissebier appearance; cloudy golden straw, with dark amber hues in the center, topped with a sticky, pillowy, white foam head with ample retention.

Aroma on this sample is a bit musty, yeasty, with clove underneath and strong wheat husk in the nose; slightly twangy.

Luscious. Sweet banana bread in the malt, smooth medium-body and mouthfeel that glides and coats the palate. Caramel undertones. Clove and tea-like flavours push through the banana character with notes of floral and herbal. Wheat lends a touch of sourness to the flavour, with a mild twang and upfront crispness; a bit dry, too. And a touch of lemony citric acid adds another depth to the hops, while bringing some refreshment to the palate. Coarse finish, dry with wheat tannins that linger briefly.

A pretty damn solid weissebier. Expected and welcomed.

33cl brown reusable swing-top bottle with a drink before date on the back label.

Apperance: Hazy yellowish golden with a few yeast particles floating around. Cropped white head stays as long as the beer is around.

Smell: Fruity and estery with some phenolics and spicy clove, fruitiness is of vague banana and tart plum. That trademark fermented wheat malt twang is there also.

Taste: Solid malt base with enough phenolic and spicy clove to balance, minimal hopping. Fruity with a tart plum character and banana in the back, estery with some higher alcohols as well show some wild hefe yeast activity.Finishes spicy dry on the palate.

Mouthfeel: Very crisp with a well textured carbonation in the modestly sized body.

Drinkability: Good enough to stand on its own as a beer to quaff though the night and complex enough to pair up with just about any kind of food ... very versitile.

Been a fan of the Flensburger brews, so I decided to pick this up during my Stout run this past week (five stouts, one Hefeweizen, why not, right?).

Poured from the 33 cl. ceramic-top bottle into a pint glass and noticed it poured an opaque, hazy, cloudy orange color - much darker than I expected. It left an inch-and-a-half head that maintained its lacing throughout.

The smell, IMO, was pretty awful; no real hint of anything except some yeast and banana and it really detracted from the beer. Thankfully, it didn't taste as bad as it smelled (or I got a bad bottle), because this was really the only lacking feature of this beer.

The taste is slightly above average for the Hefeweizen style, some cloves, some citrus, a ton of yeast and pretty sweet overall. It actually tasted a bit hoppy, which is strange for a Hefeweizen, but the taste was definitely above average.

Perfect amount of carbonation and excellent sour-y taste that made for great drinkability. I wasn't planning on having a beer tonight, but I was just thirsty and this was an absolute perfect thirst-quencher. I don't know if I could drink this as a session beer, because it is a tad bland, but it's certainly an above average beer that I'd recommend to anyone familiar with other Flensburger products.

(Served in a small weizen glass)

A- This beer has a hazy bright orangish-yellow body with a thick creamy head and a sea of tiny bubbles.

S- This beer has a soft wheat with a smooth hint of bubblegum. The smell is very smooth and complex.

T- The smooth wheat flavor with a white bread flavor has a slight bitterness from hops in the finish. The finish also has a carbonic acid bite that comes through as it warms. The wheat and malt flavor has a club soda note to it that is interesting.

M- This beer has a medium-light mouthfeel with a creamy texture but the finish is more of a light mouthfeel.

D- This beer has a nice complex taste but it is very light and subtle. Most German wheat beers feel like a meal in my stomach but this one is light and crisp and refreshing.

This poured to a cloudy golden yellow with a massive head that lasted well. There's a few bg clumps of lace.

The smell packs a fairly attractive combination of esters and wheat malt. The taste is somewhat course and very flavorful, bringing images of banana and lemon to mind. The mouthfeel is moderately crisp and the drinkability is great.

This is a good, solid beer.

500ml, swing-top bottle, part of a small group of this brewery's wares to recently show up in Alberta.

This beer pours a hazy, medium golden yellow colour, with a teeming tower of puffy, finely foamy, and mildly creamy off-white head, which leaves a few instances of chunky swath lace around the glass as it slowly and not so evenly subsides.

It smells of bready, cereal-like wheat malt, a touch of caramel sweetness, bruised banana, faint clove and white pepper spice, and a gritty, if weak earthiness. The taste is plainly sweet cereal wheatiness, a bit of generic pale malt graininess, some muddled banana, apple, and pear fruity esters, sedate earthy spice, and a dead leafy and weedy hop bitterness.

The carbonation is fairly thoroughly distributed in its soft and lilting frothiness, the body an adequate middleweight, and generally smooth, but with a sort of clammy pithiness evolving as things warm up a tad. It finishes still quite sweet, but in a generally moderated sense - that breakfast cereal wheatiness really holding fast.

Not the most complex version of the style out there, but decent enough in its earnest ways. Everything just seems muddled and underdeveloped, especially if one is looking to poke, prod, and deconstruct (guilty!). However, as something to just put back on probably one of the last nice sunny days this year, a guy could do a whole heck of a lot worse.

Flensburger's Weizen offers a beautiful appearance in the glass with a cloudy golden-orange body that displays very fine, effervescent bubbles rising steadily beneath a huge head of bright-white froth. The head holds exceptionally well and leaves nice, wide rings of lace about the glass.

The nose is yeasty, bready, wheat-like, banana-ish, apple-y, and clove-ish.

The body is medium-light with a very fine carbonation that's at first effervescent and bristly, but warms in the mouth to leave it creamy and smooth.

The flavor displays a delicate wheat malt that's threaded with tangy banana, a spritz of apple (and perhaps some melon), and a smear of spicy clove. It's backed by a firm bitterness and finishes with a delicate black pepper spiciness.

Quite nice.

Easily one of my favorite beers. The mouthfeel/ carbonation level was near perfect, and the taste was even better. This is an incredibly smooth beer, with tons of nuanced flavors. Flensburger is Superbly balanced with notes of spice, and an ever so slight banana aftertaste. To top it all off, the bottle is just plain cool.

The plop of openening the top aroses the primal german in me. The smell, for me, is outrageous. There is a strong smell of bananna or rather laffy taffy. The appearance is a normal deep gold with lacey head. Mouthfeel is silky, but I am a sucker for this style of beer. Taste has a strong citrus taste in the front along with the normal banannas and clove tastes. But a mild but delicious taste paired with a very easy to open bottle would make these very drinkable.
