Deep yellow, tending to orange. Lightly veiled. White foam, compact, quite beautiful.
A lot of banana, and some cloves, in the smell. Absolutely sweet, with a strong banana, and also strawberry, and chewing gum.
A bit less in the taste, but it remains too sweet. And also aftertaste. Heavy.
With a low drinkability. (315 characters)

Aroma holds some slightly smokey notes at first and a bit of a hot dog water smell. Then some mild yeasty bannana aroma comes in. Cloudy yellow in color with a lasting thumb thick white head. More hot dog water in the fore and more mild smoked flavors...smoked like a little smokie..not like a Rauch. Very mild bannana notes. No spice or cloves. Has a smoked wheat grain taste that is pervasive and foreign to my palate. (420 characters)

Appearance: hazy, no floating yeast with a pale light orange colour. The head is white, moderate and frothy. It may not be long lasting and there is no lacing whatsoever.
Aroma: wheat, yeast, citrus and cloves.
Taste: wheat and citrus presence.
Mouthfeel: dry, low carbonation, low alcoholic strength (5.1% ABV) and watery body.
Finish: very short watery aftertaste.

Overall: despite the acceptable nose, I would not recommend this one. It is diluted, weak and unappealing. It not even seen to be a Weizenbier. Definitely the last one. (536 characters)

Pours out a cloudy apricot body with a 2 finger head that recedes to a thin rim of foam. Leaves some scattered lacing. Banana and malt come out most in the smell. Very bready in the nose and not as crisp as I'm used to with hefes. Clove is very subdued and even a mildly herbal hop presence seems to out-muscle any clove. Flavor is not very much like a decent hefeweizen should be. This one here is really mild on esters and phenols, only offering some kind of faint mix of banana and bubblegum. Lots of bread and honey though, which makes this seem almost like a helles. I can pick out some hop in the finish. I get this weird rubber band flavor in the middle as well, which is extremely off-putting and confounding all the same as this is only a week past the "best by..." date. Mouthfeel is kind of prickly and doesn't have that nice fluffiness I tend to attribute to weissbiers. Pretty disappointed in this one. (915 characters)

The colour is yellow-orange; the liquid a bit hazy. The two fingers head is white firm and compact; it sinks very slowly leaving an impressive lacing.

The smell is mild with some notes of wheat dough, some sour flavours and a hint of yeast.

The taste is a little sour with some notes of wheat dough, bakers yeast and some fruity notes of dried apricots. The aftertaste is a bit watery with some dry notes of wheat and yeast.

The carbonation is quite mild, the liquid a little watery.

A weizen just below the average… (525 characters)

Poured from a 12oz bottle with a fliptop and best by date on the back label. Had a nice strong yellow color with good head, carb and lacing. Had a good wheat beer smell. The mouthfeel was average. The taste however was pretty bland and tasted watered down. Ranks towards the bottom of the wheats I've tried and for a German wheat probably the bottom. I'll try again to make sure I didn't have a bad bottle but you can do better (2.5, RB, ML, O) (444 characters)

Bottle Inspection: 07 10 06 best by (sampled 04 29 06)

Aroma: Yeasty banana, slightest sweet malt base, and just a touch of acetaldehyde.

Appearance: Short lived head of white on a hazy deep yellow.

Flavor: Sweetness helps this one out, but the same off hop (old, cheesy) flavor as the Pils.

Mouthfeel: Touch fizzy, medium thin body

Overall Impression: Eh, not bad, but few reasons to love it. I could at least finish this one, which I couldn’t do with its brothers. (482 characters)

look: 3.5 | smell: 3.5 | taste: 2.5 | feel: 3 | overall: 2.5

Poured from 12oz flip top into 23oz NY Mets pilsner glass.

Appearance: Cloudy golden-brown color with a large, slowly dissipating white head that leaves lots of spots of lace.

Smell: Typical wheat and yeast smells are prevalent, with hints of clove and phenol. A touch of spice, as well.

Taste: Very very light on flavor. A slight hint of sweetness to begin, finishing with a hint of wheat and a slight bitterness.

Mouthfeel: Light and watery, with light carbonation and a refreshing, clean finish.

Mouthfeel: This beer was a disappointment- it has nothing about it to make it stand out, and a very weak flavor. There are many American hefeweizens I would pick over this one, and even more German ones I would pick before it. This beer isn't necessarily one to be avoided, but it's very underwhelming. (806 characters)

Pours a hazey and dark copper with sunshine yellow highlights at the bottom of my glass. Very quick head for a weizen, leaving only a ring of only a minute after the pour. The light bananas also have cheryy mixed in with this wheat bread aroma. Not very yeasty and very subtle. I like wheat beers with an upfront scent profile, not too much ambiguity. The taste starts with some wheat bread. The finish is a bit flat. I was missing out on some carbonatio that is seen but not felt. Not to mention the increasingly lighter and lighter malt flavors as each sip finishes. (568 characters)

Enjoying wrestlemania and beer. Poured from a brown 11.2 oz. bottle. Has a cloudy golden color with no head at all. Smell is strange, green apples. Taste is wheat, green apples, a bit sour, unusual for the style. Feels medium bodied in the mouth and overall, not terrible, but not what I was expecting from this style. (318 characters)

$2,45 Camp Creek World of Beverage Atlanta, GA USA
Swing-top bottle that opened with a nice, solid "pop" when the hinge forced the top to un-seat. Very average German Hefe all the way around. Appearance was par for the course with a slightly cloudy yellow-orange colour and a big, fluffy white head. Standard banana and spices Hefe combo in both the smell and the taste. I'd buy it again because I really enjoy the style, but I won't be rushing out to stock up on it. Again, very average. (488 characters)

This beer is a nice weizen but there are a lot more exciting ones out there. It was nice to try and has a little bit of own personality. But it wll not make my regulars list. (174 characters)

Popped rubber stopper and poured nice huge head. Very carbonated and a golden brown color.

Smells heavy of malts and faintly of banana and clove

Taste is somewhat watery and malty

Mouth feel is watery, somewhat flat. Does not really have a wide palette range.

Drink ability wasnt great. Tastes below average compared to most other hefe weizens. (348 characters)

Hmmm, kind of an interesting weizen. Got this bottle at Surdyk's in Minneapolis a few weeks ago. Poured with a big, foamy, light tan head and no lace. Color is a hazy (once the complete contents are poured if the bottle hasn't been aggitated before pouring) medium amber. Aroma is sort of typical Bavarian weizen: bananas and wheat with pungency and minerals. Flavor's about the same. Slightly tart, little sweetness, a little bitter. Decent body, typical weizen carbonation. Not bad. Not great. Not labeled as a "hefe" but did seem to have some yeast trub. Would have again, could be session. (593 characters)

The beer is pale hazy amber, has a white high head which leaves good lacing but small curtains.

The smell is spicy, coriander, banana and the typical wheat sourness.

The taste is sweet, wheat buns with cinnamon and cardamon, a dash of lemon.

Medium high carbonation, soft and refreshing, a medium low body, a slightly sticky finish.

A rather standard, not bad, weizen. (372 characters)

Run of the mill hefe....nose has some yeasty sourness to it along with a little banana...body is on the light side of medium...relatively tasteless for a hefe...some mild banana and yeasty sourness..just not a lot of flavor and I'm not a big fan of the yeasty sourness...

Many better than this... (318 characters)

Pours a hazy, dark honey gold. Non-agressive pour yielded almost no head. Very thin ring and no lacing.
Yeasty aroma, kind of banana bready. Light on the clove. Honey comes through too.
The banana flavor almost disappears in the taste. Cloves are very light again. Lemon iced tea with hints of green apple.
Light mouthfeel. Very low carbonation.
A little above average drinkablility. Low ABV and light flavors keep the palate and the head from getting tired. This would be good on a hot day.
Kind of an average offering. Probably won't seek this out again. (557 characters)

330mL fliptop poured into a pint glass.

The pour is pretty unimpressive on this one. It pours a deep golden color with a very bubbly, effervescent head that recedes immediately to nothing and leaves no ring or lacing to speak of.

The aroma is very light and mainly some bananas with a light yeast aroma and hints of clove, but not a lot.

The taste is a watered down version of the aroma with some banana sweetness and a bit more lemony tartness up front. The yeast backbone is there as well.

The mouthfeel is light to medium bodied and almost watered-down with lots of bubbly carbonation.

This is an average hefe at best and the flavors are just too light and watery to make this one too enjoyable. (703 characters)

Pours out a slightly hazy dark orange with a nice foamy white head.

Smell. very nice and delicate aromas of banana, and just a touch of clove. The banana seems to have a candy banana aroma, like laffy taffy- gives it a little creaminess.

Taste. More of the candy banana flavor, which i am not too much a fan of. I dont get any cloves. This one seems to be quite sweet. Not bad, interesting. Aftertaste seems to be a little off for me.

Mouthfeel. Body is average, carbonation is at a good level. Seems to also have a creaminess to it.

Overall, i am liking this less and less as i am drinking it. Certainly a different aproach to the style than i have had. I wouldnt say avoid this one, but i would not recommend it. (726 characters)

(Bottle BB 113109):

Pours a very pale yellow color body, somewhat cloudy. Small creamy whitish head. Lastingish. Banana aroma, some alcohol. Light fruit. Spiciness too. Banana and fruit taste. Light spiciness. A little too harsh for a typical hefeweizen. Somewhat malty taste. (277 characters)

Pours hazy dark straw color with minimal head. Cute bottle with rubberized flip top. Nose has a bit of sour banana. On the palate there's plenty of wheaty flavor, banana, not so much clove, and finishes with a bready quality that is nice. Drinkable but not tremendously appetizing to have another one. (301 characters)

Swing top bottle, 33 cl. The liquid is murky, cloudy, hazy, and a burnt blond-straw color. The head is initially very tall and firm. It's puffy and brilliantly white. The aroma has a hint of bananna, yeast, and distant smoke. There's a little clove, but not as intense as it could be. The yeast gives the beer a very rustic character. Moderate to very light in sweetness, but with a solid heft, this beer is satisfying. It's nicely carbonated, and doesn't have much hop quality at all. It's spot-on for a decent Hefe. Thirst quenching, and very enjoyable. It's better than expected, and I'd probably buy it again. (613 characters)

Pours a fairly clear light golden color with a foamy white head. Nose is fresh wheat and a lightly fruity banana aroma with a bit of musty yeast in the background. Been a fan of the Flensburger brews, so I decided to pick this up during my Stout run this past week (five stouts, one Hefeweizen, why not, right?).

Poured from the 33 cl. ceramic-top bottle into a pint glass and noticed it poured an opaque, hazy, cloudy orange color - much darker than I expected. It left an inch-and-a-half head that maintained its lacing throughout.

The smell, IMO, was pretty awful; no real hint of anything except some yeast and banana and it really detracted from the beer. Thankfully, it didn't taste as bad as it smelled (or I got a bad bottle), because this was really the only lacking feature of this beer.

The taste is slightly above average for the Hefeweizen style, some cloves, some citrus, a ton of yeast and pretty sweet overall. It actually tasted a bit hoppy, which is strange for a Hefeweizen, but the taste was definitely above average.

Perfect amount of carbonation and excellent sour-y taste that made for great drinkability. I wasn't planning on having a beer tonight, but I was just thirsty and this was an absolute perfect thirst-quencher. I don't know if I could drink this as a session beer, because it is a tad bland, but it's certainly an above average beer that I'd recommend to anyone familiar with other Flensburger products. (1,278 characters)
