Poured a crystal clear gold in color with a rather dense white head. The beer was VERY well carbonated. Aroma was a nice balance between spicy Saaz like hops and a malty sweetness. Very well balanced but hard to place... is it German or Czech. A beer with a bloody identity crisis, but at least it makes for some good drinking. Bitterness makes itself known on the finish but is not overly assertive. A truly masterfully crafted beer.

See edit below:
[...] Head fades fairly quickly with lacing till it's gone. [...] The taste is good - malt with nice hops and bitterness following through. [...] It's well carbonated. This is no complex beer but it's quite drinkable.

01-2014 is the use by date.

EDIT// I got a half crate of this since reviewing it, I'm on the last two bottles this evening. I find I'm less enthusiastic now. There's something metallic there in the after-taste, and also after the first flush of carbonation in the mouth. I do like the hops, but everything is a bit thin and bread-y in the end. Still not a particularly bad pils.

16oz pint at Beer Revolution Edmonton. I do quite like almost barking the name of this beer, given its particular, um, Germanity.

This beer appears a pale golden yellow colour, with one finger of weakly foamy, mostly wispy off-white head, which leaves a sort of singular spectacle of Japanese tree painting lace around the glass as things slip away.

It smells of softly grainy, warm cereal malt, a bit of faded acrid lemon flesh, and mildly skunky leafy, earthy noble hops. The taste is more warm breakfast cereal, gritty and grainy pale malt, simmering lemon pudding, a bit of benzine (Rammstein represent!), and standard German Pils earthy, leafy noble hops.

The bubbles are pretty laid-back und (sic) understated, the body a bit of a stilted medium weight, and a bit halting in its smoothness. It finishes mostly off-dry, the fruitiness still predominating in the lingering malt, with a certain gasohol booziness, and fuzzy earthy, weedy hops.

A prototypical, mostly average German Pils, which of course ain't that bad of a thing. Grainy, a bit edgy, and with some middling noble hops. I know that doesn't really do the style justice, but that is indeed what this one's all about. Biergarten worthy, at the very least.

The Hasseroder is a good german pils. Opened a bottle at the Lufthansas Lounge in Frankfurt on my way to India. The beer poured a clear golden with thin white head that is leaving a spotty lace. The smell included grain and grassy hops. The taste was a sharp pils with bitter foundation that dissapates nicely. The mouthfeel is a medium body with good carbonation. Overall it is a good solid pils.

One of the many beers I got on my weekend in Germany, and another average one also. This one comes from a can 500 ml. It pours a golden yellow colour, with a one finger head that won't last and no bubbles or anything.Aroma is of malts, nothing weird here. Taste is bitter and a bit metallic, but I justify it since it comes from a can. On the palate is thin, with medium carbonation.

A souvenir from the Harz. I have also had it on tap many times. Can't be too different, right? Drinking this straight from the fridge.

A very pale golden beer with a foamy white head.
The head is very nice on tap by the way.

Faint malts, grain and some hops. A bit citric. Could be worse.

The taste is better than on tap, or that might be the different occasion I don't know. I remembered it to be a very light flavoured beer but with an overdose of hop extract bitterness.
This tastes slightly grainy, with some hops. Not much to tell really, grain and some hopiness. Could be worse, could be better.

Clean, refreshing.

The mouthfeel is thin and there is plenty of carbonation.
If you ever get to go to the former DDR, get Köstritzer Schwarz if you can but this is not too bad either.

500ml bottle. MHBE: 10.2011.

IT pours a clear gold with a frothy white head that leaves plenty of sticky lacing.

I feel like the smell stands out here. It is springy and hoppy with some citrusy fruit notes and a nice bit of underlying malt.

The flavor is sweeter than the smell would suggest. It has some decent pils flavors but it comes off a bit mild. It also has some mild diacetyl, something a bit rarer in German beers.

It isn't amazing but it isn't awful, worth a try and easily found.

.5L, Germany, best by 1/11.

Spritzy pale gold with a frothy, short-lived head, but above-average lacing.

Aroma is clean yet vapid: minerals, grain, grass, all very faint.

Flavor is similarly uninspiring, but not bad. Good balance between grainy malt flavors and earthy, vaguely spicy hops. Pretty clean and bitter finish. Nice carbonation and mouthfeel, which was light but creamy.

This pils is barely above average, just because there's nothing offensive about it. One of my shortest reviews in a while. Starting to feel like a certain Canadian BA... Not a whole lot to say about this beer, aside from Prost!

Damn! Thought I was on a roll here with German pils being so good. This one had real potential except for the carbonation. Poured with a large, foamy, frothy, white head that settled down after a bit and some lace. Color is a Clear yellow. Aroma is malt, hop, and some grain. Taste is more sweet than bitter, like a pils that is missing the tang of proper carbonation. Body is good but the carbonation is mostly absent. I see an occassional small bubble rising to the top. Dumping the rest of this.

A: Pour is clear golden with a large white great-looking thick head. Slow dissipation leaves nice lacings.

S: Grainy malt, somewhat sweet. Bitter hops and faint citric notes.

T: The taste is mild; sweet malt and faint bitter hops and citric notes.

M: Aftertaste is the best part; long-lasting and nice clean bitterness. Body is medium creamy and carbonation is rich with lots and lots of small smooth bubbles.

D: A meduim German Pilsener.

Had this beer on tap in Germany in a pizzeria. Nive combination with a pasta.

Got a glass of 0,3 liter. Nice head and a light yellow fluid. White head which is rather fluffy. Not much carbonation. The beer smells quit normal and there isn't much to say about the taste and the drinkability. It is a beer which is typical brewed by the most German brewers.
