not sure if this is any different at all from the 2014 listing here, but i had one in a bottle, that one, and one on tap, listed as this one, so here goes. it almost smells like a pumpkin beer, with the spice of the rum and the sweetness coming through on the nose like nutmeg and vanilla. not pie like, but definitely roasted and squashy. it also seems english more than belgian. less fruity in the yeast, more dry and doughy, which works with all the molasses and maple grain density here. sweet enough, but not overbearing. the booze shows, but it never gets hot either. i like that about it. palate coating and long long long. it never really dies, but even the burps taste good. i remember the bottled edition being a little sweeter, almost to a fault, and it not being quite so rich from a grain standpoint. maybe its a double listing here, but the bottle and draft versions are radically different from one another, both tasty, but certainly separate.

Rich, Reddish brown in color. Smells of ripe cherries, burnt sugar, and vinegar. Caramel, a medley of ripened dark fruits, cardamom, and rum soaked wood at the very end of a sip. Creamy throughout. Burns a little going down. Splendid BA drinking for the liver transplant crowd.

Clear coppery red with a modest head. Some vanilla and fermenting pineapple in the aroma. Moderate carbonation on the tongue. Sweet with that Belgian candy taste, but the drying yeasty sensation kicks into high gear for the finish.
The rum barrel flavor is pretty intense. The aromatics are powerful and rather odd. It's some kind of fruit cobbler topped with sugary biscuity stuff. Actually, this has to be aged in Captain Morgan barrels-- there's no other explanation for the seriously spicy flavors. I taste cinnamon and cardamom and ginger. My imagination, no doubt, but it's a huge mouthful.
From the 22 oz bottle purchased at Grapevine Liquor on south Monaco.

Thick dark mahogany color with 1 ½ finger dense foamy head. Minimal lacing left behind.
Lots apricot and pear. Spice notes from the rum are very prevalent.
Zero heat bite. Peppery, lots of spice, apply, deep caramel malt. Light carbonation compliments the moderate sugars with the smooth complex well-blended flavors. Pretty thick and syrupy Slight hints of Metallic-Styrofoam on the backend of flavoring, only slightly detracts.
It’s not as smooth as it COULD be, but still damn good and a great representation of what River North can put out. Definitely let this one open by allowing it to come to room temperature. Well done and recommended $14/22oz.
