Bomber served chilled into a tulip glass.

Anniversary Ale 2 is a pale golden yellow witha slightly hazy appearance. The head is short and settles quickly leaving little lacing behind.

Aroma is faint but complex with floral and spice. A little yeast too but none of the above come on too strong. The dry hopping could be amped up a bit more.

Flavor is also subtle but complex with sweetness up front from the malts. The hops start to come through in the middle and flow through the end. The strength of the beer makes itself felt towards the end when it finishes dry.

Mouthfeel is medium bodied with good balance. Alcohol is noticible but never seems overpowering.

Overall a very solid Belgian strong pale ale and probably one of the best beers I've had from a River North.

Clear light golden with an attractive white foam in the Tripel Karmeliet tulip. Quite sudsy and zingy on the tongue. Vast aromatics of apricot and fresh hay along with the flowery hops.

Quite sweet but really tangy. Tremendously fruity. The hops seem to add to the mango and peach fruitiness. The alcohol is not too noticeable, though this does seriously taste like canned fruit cocktail juice with a dose of vodka. Some yeasty bitterness at the finish, but not as intense as many in the Belgian style.

A strong and tangy brew that's quite sippable. The lacing lasts to the bottom of the glass. From the 650 ml bottle purchased at Mayfair Liquors in Denver.

Had this from a 22oz bottle. I love this beer. River North is definitely a one of my new favorite breweries. It pours a nice golden color with a white head that lasts for a few. It has a strong nose to it. I picked up some citrus and a sweet pineapple hint. It has a great taste. Definitely very sweet taste very smooth bitterness to it. I get some tropical tastes to it, especially some grapefruit. If you want a great beer, this is definitely one to pick up.

Cloudy, solid gold body with a thin, wispy head. Belgian yeast funk aroma; grapefruit and dry grass. Bitter taste with a rich, malt grain flavor; phenolic; apricot. Medium bodied; coarse effervescence; dry finish.

An okay Belgian ale that doesn't quite hit on all cylinders. The head is lacking and the carbonation has huge bubbles that contribute to the rough mouthfeel. Taste-wise, it has a pleasing grain/hop bitterness/ripe yellow fruit flavor although it seems rather haphazard along with the rest of the beer's qualities. Not bad but nothing to get amped about.

second anniversary for river north, congrats to them, they are way on top of it for such a young operation, and this brew is a great testament to that. i am a sucker for nelson hops too, so i love it. hazy sunny colored with a lazy patchy white froth head. it smells like orange/pineapple juice, likely from the nelson, and upbeat fruity belgian yeast. in taste, it starts as a nelson bomb, all the fruit and citrusy juicy goodness i love, but it quickly becomes a belgian strong golden, where the sweet malt takes over and the belgian yeast struggles to control it with an outdoorsy sort of orchardy presence and some spice and zest. the mouthfeel is the only issue for me. in a belgian, especially a hop driven one, i need more carbonation to keep it moving and bright, and this one bogs down more than a little. its not expressive enough for the flavors in my opinion. the alcohol is well hidden in taste and smell, but it makes the beer heavy, more body than necessary, i think this would have done fine in the 7 or 8% abv range. other than that though, its beautiful. great use of nelson and a great exclamation point on two years of innovative beers. well done all around. heres to many many more!
