Hazy dull gold with a big bubbled, fizzy white head that is quick to settle and leaves scattered foam, a little sticky looking.

Smell is fruity, over ripe banana, tropicals, and yeasty - very. A little spicy as well.

Taste is robust, huge esters, fruity more than spice, but some of all of that. In line with the exaggerated feel of the nose. Really lingers in the back of the throat on the after taste.

Mouthfeel is a little watery, sharp carbonation, very dry and light bodied.

Drinkability is ok. This is too in your face for my taste, like saison extract. Within the stylistic guidelines, but too much to really enjoy much of.

22 oz bottle. Pours hazy golden yellow with a medium bubbly, creamy white head that goes to a thin film that leaves some lacing.

The aroma is grassy straw, bready malts and a little fruit with some funk.

The flavor is sweet bready malts with floral vanilla notes and some ripe fruit. Weirdly tastes a bit like a nitro cream ale. The mouthfeel is a bit thin and watery.

Overall, as it warms it degrades and get a bit vegetative.

Bomber served cold into a goblet. I picked this one up in Boulder for $8.99

J. Marie is a redish amber color with a slight haze. It barely forms a head even on an intentionally vigorous pour.

Aroma is sweet and funky, which is good, but also a bit musky. Not so good.

Flavor is much the same in that it has some positives but also some unfortunate negatives. It goes from sweet, almost cloying, to bready and yeasty.

Mouthfeel is medium bodied, a little too think and syrupy for the style.

Overall a real disappointment. I don't normally knock a beer but this is kind of a mess. Too sweet, too thick, too rich. A saison should really be more light, dry, crisp and should highlight the yeast. This seems to be under attenuated and maybe a bit oxidized. Hopefully the other bottle of Belgian IPA I bought is much better.

650ml brown glass bottle with understated label art and unbranded black pry-off pressure cap acquired via a friend and served into an Odell stem-tulip in me friend's gaff in high altitude Fort Collins, Colorado. Reviewed live. Expectations are average. Reviewed as a saison since the label identifies it as such.

Served cold - straight from the fridge - and allowed to warm a bit over the course of consumption. Side-poured with standard vigor as no carbonation issues are anticipated.

A: No bubble show forms as it's poured.

Pours a one finger wide head of white colour. Nice thickness and decent creaminess. No lacing clings to the sides of the glass as the head recedes. Head retention is average - about 2 minutes.

Body colour is a clear translucent copper of average vibrance. No yeast particles/sediment is visible.

I'm a bit shocked it isn't hazy given it's a saison. It's not bad looking, but I can't say I'm overly optimistic.

Sm: Clean barley, Belgian malts, light vague spice (including clove), light honey, and some malty sweetness. I'm not finding the white pepper and/or milky notes of the best saisons. Floral hop character. Golden malts. A strange aroma of mild strength.

No alcohol is detectable.

T: Golden malts, floral hop character, light honey, clove, malty sweetness, clean barley, and coriander. There isn't much going on here given it's a saison. Okay balance. Too sweet for a saison.

Not real complex or subtle. It's not nuanced or intricate. Balance is okay at best. Build is far from gestalt, and isn't particularly cohesive either.

Mf: Smooth and wet. Overcarbonated. A bit too heavy on the palate. Okay body. Suits the flavour profile decently in a general sense, but is far from custom-tailored to the flavour profile.

Not oily, astringent, hot, boozy, gushed, or harsh.

Dr: Drinkable but mediocre. I wouldn't want to try it again. It doesn't hide its ABV as well as it should. It's a disappointing saison. Very underwhelming. Outside of style conventions, it's not bad.

Rich and tangy, bold-flavored brew. Handsome amber color on the golden side. Modest foam in the Petrus goblet. Plenty of carbonation on the tongue that stays around for the party in your mouth. Agreeable aroma of fermenting pineapple with a whiff of the barnyard.

There is an abundance of malty substance with a browned, toasty taste. Intensely fruity as it warms up, with an increasingly bitter edge as the yeast flavors take over. Apples and pear skins, apricots. Quite a dose of the meaty flavor as well.

Overall this is sweet and powerful with a snootfull of aromatics. This is hugely drinkable with a dry finish and lingering fruity tang. From the 22 oz bottle purchased at Grapevine Liquors in Denver.
