Thanks to Jason for this bottle, brought all the way to my house from the brewery.
Not my favorite style, but I've had enough Wee Heavy's to compare.
Poured into my Delirium tulip, served at 50 degrees.
Look: nice copper/amber color, true to style. Off white 2 finger head, nice retention and lacing.
Smell: Thick malty, prune sweet, maybe a hint of raisins too.
Taste: Not as sweet as the smell; malty goodness, dark fruits, molasses or brown sugar, barely taste the alcohol. As it warms the alcohol comes out a little more.
Mouthfeel: Nice medium, not thick, can feel the carbonation.
This is a good one to share, I couldn't drink the bomber by myself. Capped it and will have another glass tonight.

22oz bottle poured into a Duvel Tulip (over 2 pours). Careful pours to leave the sediment behind. 2013 bottling.

Appearance: Clear very dark copper to ruby red beer. Thin light tan persistent foam. Very nice color. Small amount of thick strands of semi-persistent lacing - they would slowly slide down the glass.

Smell: Toffee, brown sugar, bread, and a hint of alcohol.

Taste: Toffee, some hints of cocoa, malt sweetness, boozy fruitiness, hint of raisin, roasted malt bitter finish. Some warmness as well with it all. Maybe just a hint of citrus as well at the very end.

Mouthfeel: Sticky, thick, spicy carbonation on the tongue briefly.

Overall / Drinkability: Dangerous dangerous dangerous beer. A wee heavy that starts off pleasant and inviting, and then sends you on a ride afterwards but you probably won't mid. There is so much heaviness to the beer that the alcohol is well hidden, but yet this is still a beer to be sipped and savored. But it is so tasty that I found myself taking several sips in a row to pull out the flavors, and then realizing I was going to be in trouble. Probably best to share a bottle of this size with someone else if you're planning to drink it quickly, but if you want to finish it yourself, plan on taking your time. I had this with Welsh Rabbit for dinner but had plenty to savor slowly after dinner. A well done Wee Heavy.

A: Dark burnt brownish orange with not much head.

S: Bread and caramel up front. a little smoke before toffee and sweet funky dark fruit take over. sour cherry and wood.

T: Sweet caramel and toffee. alot of bread. banana esters and overly ripe cherry. a hint of yeast with just the slightest smoked and burnt wood. a little roast is hinting at the edges of flavor with an acidic finish.

M: Medium bodied with a full fruity finish.

O: Very well put together. balanced. a tad too sweet for me but a great after dinner sipper. /89

A very well done "wee heavy". You can tell a lot of care went into the process to carmelize the wort just right. It is not the most quaffable ale in the world. But it's not supposed to be. I had it on tap at the brewery (Listermann's), served by the brewer himself. That helped the experience immensely. It was required to be served in a plastic cup which was a shame but I could still tell it had a nice head that held the sweet, brown, pruney aroma. The mouthfeel was thick but not cloying and despite the abv being nearly 11% it did not have a solvent note to it at all. The flavor was a wonderful malty experience with a touch of maple and herbal bitterness provided by the hops far off in the background.
Excellent job by Cincinnati's smallest and most rogue brewery. Home to the long suffering bloatarians brewing league who still meet there regularly.

Not sure how I managed to be the first reviewer of this beer, seeing as I live a long long ways from the brewery. Thanks to RocPorterFanatic for hooking me up with this in a recent BIF.

Pours a murky dark amber brown, with orange shades. Two fingers of light yellowish tan head, good retention, little lacing.

Smell is big, rich, and malty. Brown sugar jumps out, followed by dark fruits like prunes. The alcohol is barely detectable.

Taste is less sweet, more earthy. Those fruits and sugars are still there, but there's a dark peaty flavor that's more dominant. I can definitely pick up the alcohol here, but it's covered quite well for such a strong beer. In fact, it does something strange - the slight bitterness of the alcohol actually adds flavor that I think complements the rest of the beer well. Haven't experienced that before.

Mouthfeel is quite good. Medium-bodied, not quite as heavy as I'd expected, with good flare-up-then-fade-away carbonation. Long finish, held up mostly by the alcohol, which keeps reminding me of its presence in gentle little ways.

A very good wee heavy, quite flavorful, sugary in the nose and peaty in the mouth. Very well-balanced for being so high up on the ABV scale.
