Nice maple brown with good clarity, but little head and minimal stickage.

spicy aroma of pepper, rye and cinnamon. Hint of brown sugar sweetness.

Dry malts upfront with a rye bite, although apparently none were used. Perhaps just some specialty malts. Earthy and rich. Piney hops, grass, herbs.

Firm feel, but a bit undercarbonated. Dry finish is clean and satisfying.

Bold, spicy and crisp. Nicely done. Reminds me a bit of Victory's Headwaters.

Serving type: on-tap

On tap at the brewpub, served in a mini-nonic pint.

Dark amber color, good clarity, frothy cap of white foam that lingers momentarily. Looks the part, fairly straightforward in all aspects but well crafted.

Smells grassy and herbal, lightly hoppy with a mild breadiness also. Clean and pleasant.

Tastes fairly hoppy, nice for a flagship amber ale, not much expectation here. Full bodied, some specialty malt flavors and a light herbal hoppiness that lends to a lingering dry bitter aftertaste.

Overall really well done for a simple, sessionable amber despite the apparently high and hidden abv. Hoppy enough to satisfy that craving, a sure growler candidate.
