From 600mL bottle, thanks Jon,
A: Pours a lightly hazy goldenrod with a light white head, fair retention.
S: Golden Delicious apples, pear and orange esters. Boozy, but I like it here.
T: Very similar to the smell. Pear, apple, quince and citrus. Some peppery/coriander like spice as a secondary flavour. More malt domiinated than most tripels I've found, but still to style. Ethanol is there, I don't really mind it at all. Really good flavour.
M: Full-bodied, it has a rich lushness about it that I really like, soft carbonation. Silky and big.
O: A really fun beer to try. Not the best tripel I've had from Brazil (Wals takes the cake), but this is really good and one of the best I've had from this country.

It's time. After sitting in my house for 6 months after I received as a gift from Victor (the owner of Porto Alegre's Bierkeller), I made the long overdue decision to crack the crown. On to the beer:
Pee yellow in color with a little haze and sediment from a bottle filled of sediment, decent lace appears after the pour. After the dissapointment from tasting Burgman Flanders Red, I didn't want another dissapointment. It tried though. The aroma smells more like rocket fuel than it does a beer. Traces of honey and sugar arise, however the aroma dominates of alcohol. Fumes of alcohol. Get the car running, this could fuel it!
Relief brushes the doubts aside after a taste. It tastes like a good tripel, albeit a boozy one. Sweet, mandarin orange, subtle fruits from the yeast, peppery, and dry overall. Full bodied and boozy. A sure sipper.
Maria Degolada was orginally a woman who lived a century ago, near a barracks in Rio Grande do Sul. Her and a soldier fell in love, but she refused intercourse, encouraging the soldier to kill her. Now it's represented in a beer, and a good one that needs to be tasted with respect. The legend of Maria Degolada lives on...

(Served in a strange)
purchased at Biermarkt
600 ml bottle
validade: June 12
A- The hazy apricot body shows off bit bubbles that slowly glide to the surface with a thick snow white head that sticks to the glass in sheets.
S- The fruity yeasty esters are almost perfumed with light dried fruits aromas most notably apricots. There is a wonderful Orval young brett character with a touch of candy sweetness in the finish.
T- The slightly spicy dry fruitiness ends with some candy sweetness in the finish but it is never cloyingly sweet. There is a green leaf herbal quality that does have some hop character and lingers for just a bit. The estery note take on more pineapple and passion fruit hints that are soft but nice.
M- This beer has a medium mouthfeel with no alcohol heat until it is really warm and a touch of fizz pricks the finish.
O- This is an amazing beer. It has wonderful soft depth to the pronounced yeast esters and the dry/ester/fruity/perfume nose is great aswell. The gruit spices blend in with the hops so that everything works together and no flavors dominate or feel out of place.
