Pours a clear brown (maybe the brightest brown ale l I have ever seen) producing 2.5 fingers of frothy, light tan, somewhat lasting head that leaves a thin wash and streaks of pasty lacing. Aroma is bold dark malt, toast and roast forward, semisweet cocoa, an earthy mustiness and a hint of raisin. Taste is full and robust; fronted by Baker's Coco, roast and toasted pumpernickel followed by hints of roasted nuts, brown sugar and raisins, it finishes slightly bitter with roast and burnt malt hints. The dry aftertaste is burnt bread and bitter cocoa that fades to a thin charred bitterness. The earthiness of the nose is also present in the mouth. Mouthfeel is medium-full bodied with moderate carbonation, creamy and very silky with a thin prickle in the finish. A different and interesting brown ale. If you like malty beers I suggest you give it a try.

From a large bottle.
Despite the name, this brown ale is not particularly sweet. It is tasty and well balanced with a generous load of medium and light roasted grains and subtle hops. Some chocolate in the aroma that is more faint in the flavor.
Overall: recommended for style.

Poured from a bomber into an Irish pint glass.
A: Pours a rich dark copper/brown, a little hazey. Light tan head thins out somewhat but maintains well and laces nicely.
S: Fairly hop-forward with notes of caramel and toffee.
T: Heavier notes of toffee and toast with the hops taking a back seat but still along for the ride. The emergence of bread crust settles on the the back end and, along with the hops, lends a pleasant touch of bitterness.
M: Nicely full-bodied for a brown ale with crisp carbonation. The beer lightly coats the inside of the mouth, maintaining those flavors.
O: A lively and enjoyable offering from Burnt Hickory in what is sometimes a somewhat underwhelming beer style. I like the hoppy nose and bready taste. 6.89 ABV makes this a solid bomber of brown ale. Well done!

Appearance: Quite an impressive bubble show, with a frothy beige head billowing above the clear, tea-colored liquid; excellent retention and clumpy lacing
Smell: Bready malt, caramel and honey with underlying piney tones
Taste: Crusty bread, up front, with building caramel and honey tones; piney hop flavors take over, in the middle, and while there is a lingering bitterness, the sweetness from the malt and honey creates a Bit-O-Honey flavor in the finish
Mouthfeel: Medium body with moderate carbonation
Overall: An interesting twist on a brown ale, but the honeyed sweetness limits my enjoyment
Thanks, factory, for the opportunity

Appearance - true to the style, dark brown. Smell - weird. Sort of like a brown ale ipa. Taste - much the same as the smell. Strange combo of I
IPA and brown ale. Overall - might get again if I'm in the mood.

look: Dark mahogany. Ruby highlights. Bog fluffy tan head with very messy lacing.
smell: Piney hops with some roasty malt trying to keep up. Not getting any honey in the nose right out of the fridge but it starts to emerge as the temp drops.
taste: Still no prominent honey here but the taste compared to the nose is a more harmonious blend of roast, and sweet malt with a nice bitter edge in the finish.
