Very good. I think a proper word to describe this is "balanced". The flavors mesh well. Though I was hoping for more of the blood orange flavor, it's there. :)

From a single 12 oz can picked up while in the panhandle, couldn't find a date so not sure how fresh but got it from a good beer store, so I'm hoping. Into a Tallgrass tulip, cloudy rusty orange, some sediment, 2 fingers of foamy head that reduces to a ring fairly quickly, leaving some decent lacing. The first thing to say about this one is that it uses blood orange better than anything else I've tried: on both the nose and the tongue, you get the cottony peel, and that kind of spicy tangy grapefruit, as well as some round berry notes. It is also pretty juicy. For me, that's the best part of this one, and its great. There's also a little piney resin mixed in, but it isn't quite as sharp or bitter or sticky as it might be, and I wonder if that is because the can is older and it isn't as fresh as would be ideal? Mouthful is a little bit of a let down: it is neither pillowy soft or bristling with hoppy liveliness. Kind of somewhere in between, and indistinctly so. Full body, but not heavy. Carb was moderate.

As is, this was definitely enjoyable and a treat, but it didn't quite live up to the potential I thought it had. Would like to try this again, more certain that it was fresh.

Appearance: Pours a cloudy amber color with a two finger head; excellent retention and streaky lacing

Smell: Powerful blood orange aromatics; there is an orange peel aspect to it

Taste: From the outset, the blood orange and orange peel flavors dominate with a pine resin aspect building, through the middle; quite juicy but bitter in the finish

Mouthfeel: Medium body with high carbonation

Overall: An impressive use of blood orange here but it is over-carbonated and would benefit from being a bit softer in the bitterness profile

Presentation: 12 oz. can with no dates. Served in a tulip glass.

Appearance: The foamy, two finger head stays around for a while and settles into a thick foam layer that stays around until the end leaving a small amount of patchy lacing behind. It's a hazy, dull, yellow-orange color.

Smell: It has a strong but very pleasant citrus fruit smell with notes of orange and grapefruit peels and fresh orange pulp.

Taste: The taste kind of mirrors the nose with most of the flavors being of citrus fruit. There's more fresh fruit here, however. The main taste is of fresh oranges along with grapefruit. There's some hop bitterness and and a pine resin aftertaste towards the end.

Mouthfeel: It's refreshing, dry and medium bodied with a sharp, jarring, high carbonation bite. It feels over carbonated.

Overall: A juicy IPA rich in citrus fruit aromas and flavors that would be better off with a little bit more creaminess and softer carbonation.

Translucent orange liquid, thick white three finger frothy white foam cap , great lacings

Aroma is citrus, orange rind, whiff of pine, whiff of grassiness

Taste is orange peel, hint of dank

Mouthfeel is slightly dry with a gentle lingering of the orange rind bitterness

Good beer
