Beer #5 of the Barrel Society.
In a teku glass the beer was a dark amber color. There was a medium-sized tan head that receded quickly.
Aroma of sweet fruit. Some vanilla, some oak.
A berry taste. Some other sweet fruit. Oaky.
A dry beer. Tart, but not very tart.
This was a nice enough beer. I think Night Shift has brewed some better weissbiers than this one, however.

Dark amber color with a typical, fleeting Berliner head. Few bubbles linger and merge into what looks like an outline of South Africa.
Cherry blossom, oak and blackberry aroma. After about 20 minutes I got a seeming new carpet aroma but with some imaginative searching that turned into fresh berry skins that were just rinsed in a colander.
Appropriately tart blackberry and vanilla are immediately evident on the palette. Some nutmeg in back too.
Another fine Berliner from Night Shift.

Thanks to Wowcoolman for sharing this one at his tasting.
2013 Release # 5. Bottled 10/30/13.
Pours a murky reddish-brown with a foamy off-white head that settles to wisps of film on top of the beer. Small dots of lace slowly drip into the remaining beer on the drink down. Smell is sour with malt, berry, fruit, vanilla, and acidic aromas. Taste is much the same with sour berry, earth, and wood flavors on the finish. There is a mild amount of acidity on the palate with each sip. This beer has a good level of carbonation with a crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a pretty good beer with solid flavors, but the aromas are more separate and distinct in my opinion.
Serving type: bottle.
